Animal Technician, Sr. jobs in Springfield, OR

Animal Technician, Sr. provides daily care for research animals of various species. Cleans and disinfects cages and equipment. Being an Animal Technician, Sr. monitors the health and well being of the animals, maintains logs of animal diet, behavior, vital signs and other data. Follows standard operating procedures and all biosafety and animal welfare regulations. Additionally, Animal Technician, Sr. may perform procedures to collect samples. May transport animals to and from laboratories. Requires a high school diploma. May require Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) certification from the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) or other certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Animal Technician, Sr. works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Services include animal adoptions, reuniting lost pets, lost and found reporting program, pet food and spay/neuter assistance, dog licensing, humane education programs and so much more. HSCO provides physical and medical care for approximately 3,000 abandoned, neglected and abused companion animals each year.

    About you

    The role of the Animal Care Technician (ACT) is to work in a team environment where you will be involved in all aspects of customer service, animal intake, adoptions, lost pet reunification and support for all of our services. Your duties will include providing exceptional care to every animal and client that we are presented with.

    The ideal candidate for this position may have experience in a veterinary or shelter setting, although we are willing to train committed new team members. You should:

    · Be able to organize, multi-task, and prioritize the work that needs to be accomplished

    · Be able to apply common sense understanding to any situation that may arise

    · Have the confidence to apply your skills within the boundaries of shelter protocols

    · Enjoy working with people just as much as our temporary animal guests

    Schedule will include Saturdays and some holidays. Pay range is $16-$19/hr. and DOE. Full time employees receive benefit package that includes health/dental insurance and more! Health benefits after 30 days are 100% paid for by HSCO.
