Summary:
The Annual Giving Officer is member of the Resource Development team and furthers Guthrie’s mission by securing philanthropic support, specifically through the development, implementation, and execution of our Annual Giving program to include donor cultivation, direct mail solicitations, online giving, monthly newsletter and support for department-sponsored events and fundraising efforts, including Guthrie’s grateful patient programs.
The Annual Giving Officer must clearly articulate a compelling need for funding to advance the mission of health care services, education and research at Guthrie. The position requires above average skills in persuasion and presentation to foster a desirable impression of Guthrie in the community and impact Resource Development’s fundraising goals.
Experience:
3-5 years’ experience in a non-profit fund-raising environment preferred. Experience with The Raiser’s Edge software preferred, but not required.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required in a relevant field such as marketing, business, communications or comparable degree with 3 to 5 years fundraising experience preferred.
Licenses:
Driver’s License required.
Essential Functions:
1. Under the direction of the Director for Resource Development, develop a written master plan and calendar for all phases of annual giving. Conduct regular and year end assessments of the Annual Fund program performance.
2. Assist with the planning and operational execution of employee, alumni, corporate and grateful patient giving.
3. Design, coordinate and implement donor acquisition, upgrade and renewal strategies for annual giving programs.
4. Develop and execute segmentation strategies. Analyze results to determine modification or creation of future strategies.
5. Collaborate with Major Gift Officers and Philanthropy Services staff to support the identification and qualification of new major gift prospects. Involves moderate- to-high-level of collaboration with both internal department partners and moderate level of collaboration with broader Guthrie partners to identify and integrate resources in order to accomplish strategic goals and objectives.
6. Develop and lead annual giving campaign, including annual appeal, cultivation mailings, direct mail solicitations, online giving strategy. Prepare monthly e-newsletters for constituents and additional mass emails as needed.
7. Research, test and explore emerging fundraising technologies and make recommendations for the annual giving program. Develop strategies and recommend improvements to Annual Giving's online presence in support of annual giving's dollar and donor growth goals.
8. Work closely with Director of Resource Development and other staff to develop annual giving fundraising strategies and integrate system-wide stewardship initiatives.
9. Collaborative relationship with the Strategic Planning & Marketing Department for demographic statistics, effective donor messaging design and writing, print production assistance and media advertising as related to annual events, appeals and recognition opportunities.
10. Maintain timely and accurate donor data entry and acknowledgement in the Raisers Edge Database.
