Annual Gift Director - Healthcare plans and implements the healthcare organization's campaign for monetary aid in annual gifts from corporations, outside agencies, and other donors. Assigns specific charitable donation campaigns to Annual Gift Coordinators.     Description

    Summary

    In alignment with Gift of Life Michigan’s core purpose and core values, the Director, Organ Services serves as a member of the organization’s leadership team and contributes to organizational and department strategic planning and execution. The incumbent oversees triage and donor management and works strategically to identify opportunities for reducing response times and improving the processes for donor assessment and care management. The incumbent develops evidence-based protocols to maximize organ and physiological function throughout the donation course.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • As a member of the leadership team, contribute to the development and execution of the organization’s strategic plan.
    • Develop and execute a strategic vision and plan for assigned area(s) of oversight, in line with the organization’s mission and vision. Be accountable for the achievement of the plan and its supporting goals.
    • Oversee the operations of assigned department(s), prioritize objectives, and implement strategies to achieve department goals and KPIs.
    • Oversee and provide strategic leadership in all clinical activities within Organ services, including but not limited to triage and donor management.
    • Develop and monitor a working budget for assigned department(s), including the identification of capital and staffing requirements.
    • Champion inter- and cross-department changes focused on innovation, gaining efficiencies, and increasing productivity in support of the organization’s mission.
    • Build and sustain real-time support for team members, providing guidance, advice, and instructions to help navigate the donation process.
    • Participate in assigned internal committees, work groups, and project teams as appropriate.
    • Represent Gift of Life through attendance at conferences and participation in local and national organizations and committees.
    • Participate in peer-to-peer collaboration with other organ procurement organizations and partners for best practice sharing and learning.
    • Develop, maintain, and implement policies and procedures for assigned area(s) of oversight to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    • Direct and oversee the day-to-day work of assigned direct reports, set and communicate clear expectations, and provide coaching/guidance as necessary.
    • Provide ongoing formal and informal performance feedback, conducting performance reviews and/or corrective action discussions as necessary.
    • Support staff in setting performance goals and in furthering their professional development.
    • Support the bi-directional communication of organizational and department messaging between leadership and staff.
    • Promote a healthy and safe work environment.
    • Manage other tasks required of supervisors such as time and attendance, staff change requests, and reporting.

    Qualifications


    Education and/or Experience

    Required

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus seven years progressively responsible experience in a related position, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Licensure as a registered nurse, physician assistant, other allied health professionals, or applicable experience and related training.
    • ABTC Certified (CPTC) or eligible through the American Board for Transplant Certification within one year of accepting this position.
    • Prior experience in a healthcare organization, transplant center, or organ/tissue procurement organization.
    • Experience establishing department and/or team strategies and goals.
    • At least four years’ experience in management and/or leadership role (project, team, workgroup).

    Preferred

    • Master’s degree in a related field
    • Experience leading and successfully completing large scope projects.
