    Fulfills the mission of Norwich University by providing strategic and collaborative leadership to the University's annual giving program. Partners with all stakeholder groups to advance a culture of philanthropy that matches the strengths, authenticity, and generosity of the Norwich University community. A leader on the Alumni and Constituent Engagement team, the Director of Annual Giving conceives and executes a multi-channel marketing plan to increase dollars raised and donor participation.

    Essential Functions

    • Implements Annual Giving marketing plan, works closely with internal and external partners.
      • Implementation includes audience determination, data segmentation, and management; content creation, editing, and project approval; testing and deployment; tracking and analysis of direct marketing results.
      • Assists in editing and proofing copy.
      • Builds email and other digital communications.
    • Serves as the technical expert, analytics point person, and project manager for Annual Giving communications (print mail, email, digital campaigns, texting).
    • Manages the reunion giving strategy, including goal-setting, reporting, supporting external volunteer committees, and coordinates with the internal team of front-line fundraisers who support reunion classes.
    • Sets Annual Giving goals and produces a monthly progress report.
    • Oversees operating budget.
    • Manipulates donor data to prepare sophisticated segmentation of outreach, ensuring a high degree of personalization while maintaining data integrity.
    • Advances reunion giving strategy: sets fundraising goals, plans events, cultivates volunteers and coordinates with major gifts team.
    • Creates, edits, and updates Annual Giving web pages.
    • Manages crowdfunding platforms and campaigns.
    • Stewards a portfolio of 25-50 prospects capable of making Partridge Society-level annual gifts.
    • Cultivates campus-wide network of faculty and staff members to serve on a faculty and staff giving campaign committee.
    • Provides vision and leadership to the Alumni and Constituent Engagement Team.
    • Serves as Development liaison to a Board of Fellows serving one college or department at Norwich University. The Board of Fellows are volunteers who provide strategic direction to the colleges and departments at Norwich University.
    • Staffs Norwich University Development and Alumni Relations events.

    Other Functions

    • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive or private information.
    • Communicates with employees, students, and others in a respectful and clear manner.
    • Serves on University committees, councils, workgroups, or other designated bodies as assigned.
    • Achieves, maintains proficiency in, and utilizes computers, telephones, and other job-related equipment, including related systems and software.
    • Speaks, reads, and writes in English.

    • Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

    Job Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree required.
    • 5 years of fundraising experience required; higher education preferred.
    • Knowledge of fundraising principles, ethics, and trends in higher education.
    • Strong analytical skills and a superb attention to detail.
    • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook). Raiser's Edge or other comparable CRM preferred.
    • Able to sit, squat, reach, push, pull, and manipulate related equipment; lift 15 pounds; travel outdoors to various parts of the campus.
    • Work some evening or weekend hours.
    • Travel as needed (public or private transportation)
