    Position Summary
    The Director of Annual Giving is responsible for the management, development and execution of UIW’s comprehensive annual giving program that engages all University’s constituencies, including alumni, faculty, staff, parents and friends of the University. The Director of Annual Giving functions as a positive and contributing member of a small team and includes direct supervision of the Annual Giving Team. The Director of Annual Giving reports to the Senior Director of Development for Special Projects.

    Description of Job Duties
    • Plan, manage, and execute the university’s comprehensive Annual Giving Program including all aspects of direct mail, digital and social media appeals, phone-a-thon, and personal solicitations.
    • Develop all program materials, including direct mail, digital, and social media materials.
    • Manage an active portfolio of 75-100 individual prospects with the goal of soliciting gifts of $1,000 or more annually.
    • Cultivate and strengthen relationships with donors and prospective donors through personal visits holding a minimum of 80 face-to-face visits annually.
    • Establish monetary and participation goals and assist in identifying prospects for the program and donor giving societies within the framework of development and university advancement goals.
    • Prepare an annual operating plan for the program with quantifiable goals and objectives; prepare and submit an annual report on the activities of the office and outcomes of the operating plan.
    • Plan and execute other annual campaigns and projects, including but not limited to the Employee Giving Campaign and Graduating Class Campaign.
    • Direct the university’s crowdfunding strategy and oversee the launch and management of all related crowdfunding campaigns.
    • Provide leadership and direction for the on-going Associates’ Giving program (annual gifts of $1,000 ), seeking gifts at the various levels of Associates’ giving through personal visits and mail appeals.
    • Oversee the University phone-a-thon program to grow donor support through outreach with alumni, families and friends of UIW.
    • Manage program staff, including the recruitment, training and management of work study and student phone-a-thon staff.
    • Direct the identification, recruitment, and training of volunteer ambassadors to serve as advocates for annual giving campaigns.
    • Identify budgetary needs and prepare an annual budget request for the annual giving program.
    • Assist the Advancement Office with special events and other activities related to fulfillment of departmental goals and objectives.
    • Work collaboratively with leadership on alumni annual giving appeals and strategy.
    • Work collaboratively, proactively and in a professional service-oriented manner with all institutional internal and external stakeholders to further development goals while representing the core values of the institution.
    • Document results of contacts with donors in Raiser’s Edge; maintain timely documentation with complete entries month-end closing, to include contact reports, outlining donor strategies, proposal development and monthly submissions.
    • Serve as a role model in carrying out the university mission, ensuring all actions reflect the values and principles of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word and the University of the Incarnate Word. This includes attending to the dignity of others.
    • Establish and maintain an environment that encourages teamwork, collaboration, and ethical behavior.
    • Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
    • Support other members of the management team and their work.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    • Adherence to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.

    Required Education
    Bachelor’s Degree.

    Required Work Experience
    • Three (3) years of professional fundraising or related experience.
    • One (1) year of experience in the development and execution of a comprehensive annual giving program.
    • Experience in volunteer recruitment and management.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Five (5) years fundraising experience in the non-profit sector/higher education in the areas of development/institutional advancement or alumni relations.
    • Experience working in a higher education setting.
    • Master’s Degree.

    Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
    Must have a valid driver license, driving record that is insurable by UIW insurance carrier, and be at least 21 years of age, as required to drive for UIW.

    Work Hours
    Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm with extended hours as needed to meet departmental goals.


    Physical Demands
    • Ability to actively engage in events for extended periods of time.
    • Ability to regularly move about campus and event venues to actively engage potential and current donors, as well as attend meetings on and off campus.
