  • The Nursing Curriculum and Student Retention Coordinator will oversee the nursing curriculum, prioritize student retention efforts, and provide instruction within the nursing program. This multifaceted position requires collaboration with staff, faculty, and leadership to identify opportunities for increasing student retention. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating both current and new student retention initiatives and activities. Additionally, you will support students as they strive to achieve their educational goals, contributing to the division’s overall success in meeting institutional goals and student success targets.     Collaborating with staff, faculty, and leadership, this role will identify opportunities to enhance student retention and develop, implement, and evaluate initiatives accordingly. The coordinator will support students in achieving their educational goals, contributing to the division’s institutional objectives and student success targets.

    Furthermore, this position will play a crucial role in implementing strategic initiatives, programs, and processes for engaging and retaining a diverse student population.
    Minimum Qualifications
    • Current State of NC licensed registered nurse.
    • Master’s degree; preferably in nursing education.
    • Prior experience with reviewing and curriculum implementation and student advising.
    • Minimum three years of nursing experience.

    Preferred Qualifications Essential Duties
    • Collaborates with Marketing and the Dean of Health Sciences to develop a marketing strategy for the College and Department to attract and retain student population within nursing.
    • Collaborates with nursing leadership and the Dean of Health Sciences to direct program development, implementation, evaluation, and improvement to ensure program outcomes are achieved and sustained.
    • Provides oversight regarding curriculum evaluation and implementation.
    • Assist in the maintenance, review, and updating of course descriptions, objectives, and outlines for courses of instruction and develop new courses of study as necessary.
    • Make recommendations to the lead instructor for selection of supplies, equipment, equipment repairs, textbooks for courses of study, and the scheduling of classroom and laboratory facilities.
    • Participate in departmental activities relative to revising and updating the program(s) in the area of expertise.
    • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing curriculum.
    • Assume responsibility for teaching assignments as recommended by the nursing department chair and approved by the Dean.
    • Facilitate the learning process by designing and implementing instructional activities that are appropriate and meaningful.
    • Adhere to the departmental course guidelines and ensure that content covers SACSCOC-approved competencies.
    • Assume responsibility for maintaining all required college records, including attendance, grade reports, roll books, etc as necessary.
    • Create and manage reports, staff, and faculty training related to curriculum and retention, monitor enrollment and retention trends, and help develop strategies to build enrollment and retention efforts using the data,
    • Provide referrals to students needing services such as: tutoring, testing, career counseling, financial aid, disability services, etc.
    • Develop, organize, and implement a diversified plan of student retention programs.
    • Advise students individually and/or with groups regarding academic core and/or departmental requirements, appropriate class selection, academic policies and procedures, and campus resources.
    • Meet with students regularly to track their academic progress and success and collaborate with student advisors as needed for student’s academic success.
    • Assist with recruitment and retention activities.
    • Offer exceptional customer service in a student-centered, professional environment at all times.
    • Serve on college task forces, committees and councils as required.
    • Other duties as assigned.
