• Lead the design and implementation of a nearly $10,000,000, one-time, high resolution air monitoring study in overburdened communities across the state 
• Collaborate with Air Quality Program scientists to identify the specific suite of criteria, toxic, and hazardous air pollutants to target for study
• Gathers input into study design and route planning from a multi-disciplinary team of Ecology staff, including monitoring, forecasting, engineering, and modeling experts 
• Gathers, evaluates, and analyzes sample data for accuracy and applicability, identifies outliers and errors, identifies spatial and temporal patterns and source attribution where possible
• Conducts technical review of vendor analysis products for accuracy and consistency with described methods
• Aggregates data into summary forms and graphics for a wide range of audiences
• Formulates and justifies conclusions and policy recommendations to management

• 30 hours worked per week for 20 months: (30/40) x 20 months = 15 months full-time equivalent
• 20 hours worked per week for 12 months: (20/40) x 12 months = 6 months full-time equivalent

Option One: 

A Bachelor’s degree with major study in a natural science.
AND
Six years of professional research work experience in Atmospheric Science.

Option Two:
A Master’s degree in Atmospheric Science 

AND

Option Three: 
A Ph.D. degree with major study in Atmospheric Science. 

AND 

Three years of professional research work experience in Atmospheric Science. 

• Experience applying the principles involved in calibrating, maintaining, and operating air monitoring equipment
• Experience reading, interpreting, and applying federal air monitoring regulations
