Appeal Resolution Manager manages the grievance process to review, investigate, document, process, negotiate, and resolve disputed medical, insurance, and other claims. Oversees work activity that is compliant with all regulatory guidelines and policy protocols. Being an Appeal Resolution Manager allocates team resources to ensure an effective and balanced case workload. Applies industry standards and uses best practices in the preparation of legal briefs. Additionally, Appeal Resolution Manager may represent the organization at hearings. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a senior manager or head of a unit/department. The Appeal Resolution Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an Appeal Resolution Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Position Title: Deputy Marshal – Law Enforcement Officer Part time

    Location: Lakeland, Florida

    Salary and Benefits

    $25.24 per hour 20 hours per week. M-F 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Lakeland Headquarters

    Job Description

    This is a sworn law enforcement position. Must possess a current Florida law enforcement certification. The Court has high standards, and an extensive background investigation will be completed.

    The Deputy Marshal provides law enforcement services to protect the judges, courthouse staff members, visitors and physical court facilities. Although headquartered in Lakeland, the Sixth District Court of Appeal's district covers 3 judicial circuits and 10 counties, spanning from Orlando to Naples. Oral arguments may be held occasionally at other locations around this district. Deputy Marshals are responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the judges, public and litigants at all locations where the court sits.

    The position is responsible for screening visitors, monitoring activity utilizing video surveillance equipment, patrolling building and grounds, managing emergency situations, assisting with training of law enforcement personnel, and performing related administrative tasks.

    The incumbent is responsible for the pursuit, apprehension and arrest of violators of the law within the building, grounds, and any locations the Sixth District Court of Appeal is sitting.

    The examples of work listed herein are meant to be illustrative of the duties of a deputy marshal.

    Screen visitors to court building utilizing x-ray and scanning equipment to ensure absence of dangerous material or weapons; Monitors activity in the courthouse and on the grounds using video surveillance equipment; Performs periodic patrols of

    building and grounds to ensure safety and security of area of responsibility; Provides assistance with fire safety and emergency evacuations in compliance with state and federal regulations; Interacts with the public, fellow workers and other occupants of the building, providing information/directives and assistance as required; Performs clerical tasks, such as writing incident reports, responding to emails, making journal entries into the computer security system or maintaining records.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Requires continuous and close attention to detail. Carries a firearm and must meet and maintain high standards which are measured by the FDLE law enforcement officer firearms qualification course. Ensuring the safe conduct of judicial proceedings and protecting the judges and other members of the judicial family are principal functions of this position.

    Education and Training Guidelines:

    High school diploma or GED, and one year of college or vocational school education in law enforcement. Requires valid State of Florida Driver's License, and successful completion of the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission’s Basic Recruit Law Enforcement Course.
