Medical Billing - Appeal - Medicare Follow Up Specialist

Job Summary

The Appeal - Medicare Follow Up Specialist will follow up on the status of appeals with Medicare and Medicare Replacement (Advantage) plans.

Essential Functions/ Duties

* Conducts online and phone follow-up on pending appeal responses

* Processes all payor responses to submitted appeals

* Handle inbound/outbound call center calls for payors and patients/guarantors

Qualifications

Required Experience

* Minimum three (3) years of experience in healthcare/revenue cycle billing environment

* Above average knowledge of various Medicare payor billing guidelines

* Ability to interpret remittance advice notices/explanation of benefits

* Experience with post billing for all Medicare payors

* Minimum of one (1) year in a call center environment

* Proficient in Word, Excel, Office 365

Required Education

* High School diploma or equivalent

Skills

* Ability to define and identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

* Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers in a positive and productive manner

* Ability to calculate numbers, correct entries, and post to records

* Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports

* Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information

* Ability to prepare routine administration

Working Conditions

* Work in a team environment

* Utilize various software programs

* May be required to sit for long periods of time

* Duties require the employee to regularly reach with hands and arms; speak and hear

* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
