Applications Development Director directs all activities and develops policies and procedures related to the design, analysis, testing, coding, and implementation of applications. Enhances operations by establishing metrics, analyzing processes, and implementing standard methodologies, tools, and best practices to ensure high-quality deliverables. Being an Applications Development Director oversees review of development proposals, projects, timelines, resources, and costs. Develops feedback processes for peer reviews, code reviews, and design reviews. Additionally, Applications Development Director establishes a performance culture by incorporating individual and team coaching and mentoring to achieve excellence. May develop and manage outsourcing budgets, vendor relationships, or off-shore resources. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Applications Development Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be an Applications Development Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Position Summary: Primarily responsible for the commercialization of new products, product improvements, and supporting improvement initiatives. Technical Director will drive testing and validation through commercialization and system-wide implementation.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Develop project objectives and strategies in response to business initiatives
    • Develop appropriate timelines for project delivery
    • Facilitate prototype development
    • Plan, lead and execute plant-scale production trials
    • Analyze results of experiments and translate then into actionable recommendations
    • Establish and document specifications for new products based on lab development and plant trials.
    • Act as a technical resource for the cross functional teams
    • Provide technical services role in assigned project
    • Manage product development for technical projects and operational functions
    • Drive innovations in Bakery Products via development of new products and product technologies
    • Ensure the development, use- and sharing of best practice across all departments
    • Define, manage and own projects to develop new or revised products through testing processes and implementation
    • Establish product budgets, allocate resources, set communication expectations and follow up to achieve objectives
    • Coordinate process and product development with cross-function project team to expedite completion
    • Provide direction, critical thinking and methodology to others on project team
    • Recognize, understand significance of problems and proposes alternative solutions
    • Must have the ability to troubleshoot mechanical and functional issues in real time
    • Required to work in Production floor and R&D Lab with a flexible schedule

    Required Skills and Qualifications

    Qualifications required:
    AIB certification in Baking and work experience
    Prior management experience
    Minimum ten (10) years related experience in bakery research & development
    • Minimum ten (10) years proven experience in the commercialization of products
    • A combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted
    • Demonstrated technical achievement in the development of laminated dough (i.e., croissants, Danish, and cinnamon rolls) and development of batter-based products for the foodservice and in-store bakery markets
    • Good knowledge of product development process and methodologies
    • Proven ability to write process controls for all product testing
    Qualifications desired:
    Strong verbal and written communication skills and problem solving skills
    Proven effectiveness in team communication and interpersonal skills
    Strong interpersonal skills to maintain an outstanding relationship with different groups of people including vendors, distributors, sales, R&D and marketing
    Excellent team working abilities and the capacity to direct and coach others
