IT Manager, Applications Software Development Objective
To meet business and technology needs for the corporation related to the development and support of applications software, including new applications, modifications and/or enhancements to existing software, user training and consultation, research on planned projects, handling of production problems, and strategic systems planning. To identify, initiate action, and implement Information Technology (IT) Division process improvements.
IT Manager, Applications Software Development Responsibilities
Facilitate the development and implementation of application software, maintenance, and support to meet corporate and division objectives.
Manage resources to ensure that assignments are in line with business strategies and corporate priorities. Help define, estimate, and prioritize projects and maintenance activities as assigned. Participate in the development and updating of resource plans for departmental and project plans.
Collaborate closely with other managers and directors in the IT division, with particular emphasis on enterprise architecture, data services, security, infrastructure and release management.
IT Manager, Applications Software Development Qualifications
Required: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field required, or equivalent experience may be considered.
One to three years management experience, or a minimum five years of team leadership experience required.
Knowledge of information technology concepts, techniques and processes required.
Familiarity with the relationship between hardware, software, networks, security and general business processes required.
General knowledge of insurance company operations required.
Proven ability to build and maintain constructive business relationships.
Completion of 7 Habits of Highly Successful People required. Designations in AINS and/or FLMI required, or are actively being pursued.
Preferred: Prior experience at an insurance company or on projects for an insurance company preferred.
Record of project and staff development successes preferred.
