Applications Development Director directs all activities and develops policies and procedures related to the design, analysis, testing, coding, and implementation of applications. Enhances operations by establishing metrics, analyzing processes, and implementing standard methodologies, tools, and best practices to ensure high-quality deliverables. Being an Applications Development Director oversees review of development proposals, projects, timelines, resources, and costs. Develops feedback processes for peer reviews, code reviews, and design reviews. Additionally, Applications Development Director establishes a performance culture by incorporating individual and team coaching and mentoring to achieve excellence. May develop and manage outsourcing budgets, vendor relationships, or off-shore resources. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Applications Development Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be an Applications Development Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     To be eligible for this role, all interested parties must be willing to sit on-site in either Manchester, NH or Ashaway, RI. 

     

    Position Summary

    Responsible for managing, installing, testing, documenting, training, and supporting third-party software applications.

     

    Essential Functions

    Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 

    • Install, configure, test, and maintain software applications.
    • Monitor and test application performance for potential bugs or improvements, identify possible solutions, and work with developers and vendors to implement those fixes.
    • Interface with third-party software vendors throughout the software application lifecycle.
    • Provide technical training and support for company employees on software applications.
    • Create and maintain documentation to support software applications.
    • Support Manufacturing Operations specific applications including D365 PFE (Microsoft Dynamic 365 Production Floor Execution), NiceLabel, RFSmart, Label printing, MES (AVEVA Solutions), etc.


    Safety Expectations

    • Obey all safety rules, use caution in work activities, and continuously practice safe behaviors.
    • Immediately report unsafe conditions/behaviors and work-related injuries to site supervision.

    • Strong verbal and written communications skills for communication with management, co-workers, outside vendors, etc.


    Supervisory Responsibility
     
    This position is not responsible for the oversight or performance management of other employees.


    Travel

    Up to 25% travel between the two plant facilities that are being supported.    

     

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or relevant degree/experience.
    • 3 years of relevant work experience is required.
