Applications Development Director directs all activities and develops policies and procedures related to the design, analysis, testing, coding, and implementation of applications. Enhances operations by establishing metrics, analyzing processes, and implementing standard methodologies, tools, and best practices to ensure high-quality deliverables. Being an Applications Development Director oversees review of development proposals, projects, timelines, resources, and costs. Develops feedback processes for peer reviews, code reviews, and design reviews. Additionally, Applications Development Director establishes a performance culture by incorporating individual and team coaching and mentoring to achieve excellence. May develop and manage outsourcing budgets, vendor relationships, or off-shore resources. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Applications Development Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be an Applications Development Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Healthcare Workforce Academy | Full-Time | Days

    Position Overview
    The Workforce Development Director coordinates daily operations, implements strategic goals and objectives, and successfully executes all Healthcare Academy programs.  Establishes and maintains strong relationships with community partners, educational institutions, and government agencies to innovate and implement programs to meet the organization’s staffing and development needs.  Collaborates with Government Relations Director to identify and secure state and federal governmental funding and grant opportunities.
    Engages with Singing River Health System leadership, managers, and employees to ensure apprenticeship programs are developed and successfully executed. Provides solutions to ensure that talent pipelines onboard with appropriate skills and competencies in accordance with Singing River Health System procedures and policies, accreditation organizations, and governing guidance for health care employees.

    Education
    Bachelor Degree focused in Human Capital Development, Instructional Design, or related Higher Education field required.  Graduate certificate programs can be substituted for educational requirements.

    Certification
    Association for Talent Development (ATD), Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) certifications preferred.

    Experience
    5 years leadership experience in the workforce development industry.  Active engagement in development of educational programs addressing competency and skills development to meet internal and external industry desires.  Active engagement in funding, evaluating, reporting, and revision of programs to meet rapidly changing requirements.

    Physical Demands
    Work is moderately active: involves sitting with frequent requirements to move about the office, move about the facility, and to travel to another facility within the SRHS service area. Work involves using repetitive motions: substantial movements of the wrists, hands and/or fingers while operating standard office equipment such as computer keyboard copier and 10-key.

    Work involves being able to perceive the nature of sound at normal speaking levels with or without correction; the ability to make fine discriminations in sound. Work requires close visual and acuity and the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus, i.e. shift gaze from viewing a computer monitor to forms/printed material that are closer to compare data at close vision.

    Must be able to be active for extended periods of time without experiencing undue fatigue.  Must be able to work flexible hours.

    Mental Demands
    Must demonstrate keen mental faculties/assessment and decision making abilities.  Must demonstrate superior communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone.  Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.  Must possess emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels.  Must demonstrate ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
    Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in complex situations is required.  Must have the ability to maintain collaborative and respectable working relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations.

    Special Demands

    Must possess knowledge of the adult learning pedagogies and possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette.Process a proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.), MS Outlook and Word. 

    Job requires traveling throughout the SRHS service area – with the employee providing his/her own transportation.  Some after hours and weekend work is required based on community events and meetings schedules.   Must have a valid driver license.

    Work requires the ability to function independently, adapt to workload demands, set priorities, and understand and set goals.  Must possess highly developed organizational, planning and management writing skills.  Must understand the fundamentals of automated data processing,and be able to quickly gain a detailed understanding of complex computerized and non-computerized information.
