May develop and manage outsourcing budgets, vendor relationships, or off-shore resources. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Applications Development Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be an Applications Development Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Position: Director of Data and Applications
    Reports To: Chief Information Officer
    Status: Exempt
    Summary:

    The Director of Data and Applications is responsible for the complete application landscape and the overall data strategy used to support the Firm. Included in this scope are all internal applications hosted within the Clark Hill IT environment (on premise or cloud), SaaS (Software as a Service) applications to which the Firm subscribes, applications which may be used on mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones and any other enterprise solutions which hold firm and/or client data. This Individual is responsible for the strategy for functionality (business analysis), identification of solutions, implementation and on-going support of those solutions. This person is also responsible for the overall data strategy across the firm. The Director of Data and Applications will manage the support teams, both internal and external necessary to execute this function.

    Primary Responsibilities:
    • Develop the strategy for, implementation of, and support of the comprehensive application landscape for Clark Hill
    • Develop the overall data strategy and implement the strategy to support categorization, analytics, reporting and other necessary functions
    • Manage a team of highly skilled application specialists to implement and support the application landscape and strategy ensuring daily operations and future support
    • Working with the Firm, identify new requirements and recommend solutions to address those needs. Implement the solutions including both technical and organization change management as needed
    • Ensure patching, updates and upgrades for all applications are applied as needed to ensure on-going support and maintenance
    • Lead, manage and develop resources responsible for implementation and support of all solutions
    • Actively manage vendors providing SaaS solutions or assisting in support of the on-premise solutions
    • Ensure all licensing and subscriptions are maintained at an appropriate level
    • Work with the Information Security team to ensure all SaaS providers meet the necessary security benchmarks as part of the renewal process
    • Develop the strategy and implement the process to manage the desktop deployment, patching and maintenance of the various applications in use on the local device
    • Develop appropriate policies, processes and work instructions as necessary to support the function
    • Ensure integration and alignment as needed across different areas of IT and other functions within the Firm
    • Where needed, work to develop custom applications using agile methodology to meet business requirements
    • Budget and financial responsibility for the Data and Applications within the IT financials
    • Coordinate as needed with other IT groups including Infrastructure, Information Security, Training & Integration, Library and other functions within the organization
    • Develop relationships within the Firm to effectively execute the job function
    • Coordinate communication as necessary from IT to the Firm
    • Act as a Project Manager as needed for initiatives within the IT Department
    • Participate and help to ensure IT is a key resource across the firm; position Information Technology as an enabler
    Minimum Requirements:
    • Minimum of ten years’ experience in an Information Technology environment.
    • Previous Law Firm experience is preferred
    • Ability to lead and manage a support team
    • Ability to work with other resources and teams within IT and the Firm
    • Maintain awareness of changes in the industry, both Legal and IT, in order to ensure the Firm is appropriately positioned from an application landscape
    • Knowledge of data warehousing strategies, solutions and technologies with an ability to develop a comprehensive strategy.
    • Ensure appropriate level of awareness of key solutions to provide effective support
    • Ability to manage development teams using Agile methodology
    • Some travel and overtime may be required
    • B.S. degree or equivalent work experience is required
    • M.S. degree or equivalent work experience is preferred
