Applications Development Director directs all activities and develops policies and procedures related to the design, analysis, testing, coding, and implementation of applications. Enhances operations by establishing metrics, analyzing processes, and implementing standard methodologies, tools, and best practices to ensure high-quality deliverables. Being an Applications Development Director oversees review of development proposals, projects, timelines, resources, and costs. Develops feedback processes for peer reviews, code reviews, and design reviews. Additionally, Applications Development Director establishes a performance culture by incorporating individual and team coaching and mentoring to achieve excellence. May develop and manage outsourcing budgets, vendor relationships, or off-shore resources. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Applications Development Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Education Level Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Economic Development, Business Administration, Real Estate Finance or related discipline preferred. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience Required: 5 years of experience performing financial analysis of large real estate transactions and commercial loans. Experiencing in Urban Planning, real estate development, or other economic development experience in a demanding analytic environment preferred.
Knowledge Required: The ideal candidate will have advanced Excel skills and sufficient knowledge to independently develop and analyze financial proformas for real estate development projects. The candidate must also have working knowledge of various forms of tax credits (LIHTC, HTC & NMTC) and an understanding of EB-5 transactions. The candidate should also have strong demonstrated written and oral communications and presentations skills; ability to “set up the problem,” manage projects against tight timelines, and work well in teams; ability to look at the big picture and search for insightful, creative solutions; ability to prioritize among competing needs and opportunities; enterprising and resourceful, organized and results oriented; energetic, pro-acive, collaborative and strategic; knowledge of New York State and/or general issues relevant to economic development.
