Applications Engineer supports both the pre-sales scoping process and the post-sales design and implementation activities for complex technical products. Prepares and delivers sales demos and facilitates technical requirements gathering sessions. Being a Applications Engineer reviews customer technical specifications, recommends specific products or services, and estimates cost and effort for implementation. Plans and designs the configuration of products for initial implementation or the deployment of custom solutions, enhancements, or upgrades. Additionally, Applications Engineer troubleshoots problems and oversees the completion of repairs, workarounds, or customizations. Delivers technical product training to customers and internal audiences. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Applications Engineer work is closely managed. Qualifications:
• Demonstrated abilities in the area of application development and support in client-server and/or web-based applications.
•Configuration of API, Operational duties, conversion to Java Spring
•General understanding of application maintenance, development, and change management methodologies.
• Must be proficient in the use of command line and GUI interfaces for personal computers.
• Demonstrated ability to identify, communicate and solve complex problems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Full technical knowledge of all phases of applications systems analysis and programming.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Mental and Physical Requirements:
• Occasional travel, including air travel.
• The ability to perform duties effectively under emergency situations.
• Must be available to participate in weekly 24x7 on-call rotation.
• Ability to work overtime and weekends, when needed.
Responsibilities:
• Design, install and maintain database and application software as needed to maintain our Electric Systems integrity and compliance with NERC and Reliability First Corporation policies.
• Prepare cost estimates and project timelines for completing recommended solutions.
• Perform software and database maintenance on EMS Server and application software, including SCADA.
• Communicate application and project status, identifying potential opportunities or issues.
• Evaluate all software changes and updates that are supplied by vendors, before installation.
• Participate and support change-management process as required.
• Develop and maintain application documentation and source code management.
• Provide post-implementation support for newly implemented systems.
• Provide end-user support for applications.
• Develop solid understanding of business area and/or functions for which assigned applications are designed.
• Evaluate and recommend technology opportunities; arrange and facilitate vendor demonstrations.
• Evaluate vendor responses to RFP, RFQ, RFI and support vendor selection process
