CAMECA is seeking an Applications Scientist to develop cryogenic specimen preparation and transfer methods. The candidate should be able to develop a smooth workflow for cryogenic specimen preparation and transfer to atom probes in multiple configurations (LEAP, Invizo). Ideal candidate is a laboratory-focused research scientist who can develop the needed hardware by interfacing with multiple departments (engineering, product support) and vendors.
Job is onsite in Madison WI, 40 hr per week. Travel estimated 25%.
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare specimens for atom probe tomography, acquire data using atom probe microscopes, analyze data with AP Suite software.
· Develop new applications related to cryogenic sample preparation and cryogenic transfer for atom probe tomography.
· Provide onsite customer training for atom probe operation, specimen preparation, and data analysis of atom probe tomography data.
· Maintain lab equipment and manage service calls for FIB instrumentation. Interface with FIB vendors regarding general and cryo-specific instrument issues.
· Generate marketing material showing the benefits of cryogenic sample preparation and transfer for atom probe tomography, or other new applications.
· Research applications which benefit from cryogenic specimen preparation and transfer.
· Attend and present at conference and tradeshows as needed.
· Effective communicator to customers and internal stakeholders
· Develop training and internal documentation.
· Participate in on-site and remote demos as needed.
· Sense of customer service, teamwork, and attention to detail
Requirements:
· PhD in Materials Science or related field preferred.
· Laboratory management experience a plus.
· Hands on experience with electron microscopy and atom probe tomography desired.
