Applications Engineer supports both the pre-sales scoping process and the post-sales design and implementation activities for complex technical products. Prepares and delivers sales demos and facilitates technical requirements gathering sessions. Plans and designs the configuration of products for initial implementation or the deployment of custom solutions, enhancements, or upgrades. Additionally, Applications Engineer troubleshoots problems and oversees the completion of repairs, workarounds, or customizations. Delivers technical product training to customers and internal audiences. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Applications Engineer work is closely managed.     We are seeking a talented Senior Quantum Algorithm Engineer to join our quantum applications and algorithms team. Our goal is to develop high-impact algorithms that will make our quantum systems valuable to users. We're searching for candidates who possess a robust technical background, particularly in developing algorithms for fields such as chemistry, machine learning, and quantum error correction. The ideal candidate will not only bring substantial technical expertise to our diverse team but will also excel in facilitating clear communication across internal teams and with our users.

    Responsibilities:
    • Independently design, implement, and refine novel high-impact quantum algorithms with applications in chemistry, machine learning, finance, cryptography, or logistics.
    • Simulate and implement quantum error correcting codes.
    • Identify algorithms that enhance the value of our systems by considering hardware-specific features and constraints.
    • Design and implement simulations of our systems and conduct resource estimation to predict scaling performance.
    • Work closely with quantum engineers to execute quantum algorithms on hardware.
    • Engage with our users to communicate how our systems will impact their use cases and support them as they use our system.
    • Sponsorship available.


    Requirements:
    • MS or PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field with a specialization in quantum computing.
    • Publications in a related field.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in the development, simulation, and deployment of quantum algorithms including NISQ algorithms.
    • Minimum 3 years of experience with Python programming or another programming language or another general-purpose programming language.
    • Expertise with one or more quantum computing SDKs like Qiskit, Q#, or CUDA Quantum.
    • Expertise with principles of quantum computing and quantum information science.
    • Competence with Git version control and experience with development in a collaborative environment.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts.


    Preferred Qualifications:
    • PhD or postdoctoral research in Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
    • Publications in quantum algorithms research.
    • Publications in one of the following specializations: quantum machine learning, chemistry simulation, finance, quantum cryptography, operations research, or quantum error correction.
    • Experience working with users/customers to design and evaluate quantum applications.
    • Experience with computational chemistry software like Psi4, PySCF, or MOLPRO.
    • Experience in machine learning or data science and tools like PyTorch or TensorFlow.
    • Experience in use of software testing principles and practices, including unit testing, integration testing, end-to-end testing, and containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, ...).
    • Experience in conversion from classical to quantum algorithmic solutions (e.g., applying QNNs, implementing quantum algorithms for computational chemistry simulations, or solving optimization problems with hybrid quantum algorithms).
