Applications Engineer supports both the pre-sales scoping process and the post-sales design and implementation activities for complex technical products. Prepares and delivers sales demos and facilitates technical requirements gathering sessions. Being a Applications Engineer reviews customer technical specifications, recommends specific products or services, and estimates cost and effort for implementation. Plans and designs the configuration of products for initial implementation or the deployment of custom solutions, enhancements, or upgrades. Additionally, Applications Engineer troubleshoots problems and oversees the completion of repairs, workarounds, or customizations. Delivers technical product training to customers and internal audiences. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Applications Engineer work is closely managed. Job Title: Distinguished Engineer - Generative AI Applications
Location: McLean, Virginia, United States
Responsibilities:
- Increase awareness and knowledge about AI tools and technologies
- Foster an inclusive environment where everyone's ideas are heard and valued
- Promote a culture of engineering excellence and encourage the reuse of solutions
- Communicate effectively and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization
- Act as a trusted advisor for specific technology domains and help shape their implementation
- Mentor and develop internal talent, while also recruiting external talent
- Support the creation of next-generation talent in the technology field
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least 7 years of software engineering or software development experience
- At least 5 years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud)
- At least 1 year of experience developing applications that leverage Generative AI
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree or Ph.D.
- 7 years of experience in programming languages such as Python, Java, Go, JavaScript, or TypeScript
- 7 years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud)
- 5 years of experience in AI framework libraries (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn) and AI tooling platforms
- 5 years of experience building scalable, distributed, and high throughput systems
- 3 years of experience with areas of AI technology stack such as prompt engineering, vector databases, and AI UX (Conversational)
- 3 years of experience designing and implementing benchmarks for measuring software system performance within AI capabilities
- 1 years of experience in areas like NLP, AIOps/MLOps, or AISecOps
- 1 years of experience with CICD technologies

Salary Range:
- McLean, Virginia: $269,400 - $307,500
Please note, the salary range may vary based on location and other factors. This role is also eligible for performance-based incentive compensation.
