Our client, BGF Industries, is looking for an R&D Applications Manager to join their team.
Primary Function: Oversee and direct R&D center operations and oversee selected R&D projects
Machines, Tools and Equipment used: Analytical testing equipment, lab scale fabric finishing and curing, cutting implements, flame testing, chemical mixing equipment, computers
Job Responsibilities:
1. Direct Research and Development lab personnel in the analysis of samples for benchmarking, commercial developments, and production support.
2. Collaborate with Technical Support and Process Engineering staff on technical work requests (TWR), product developments, e-sheets, and TRACS trials.
3. Collaborate with manufacturing staff on process development needs to reduce costs and improve products.
4. Develop and supervise specific R&D projects related to new production developments, improved processes, and production cost savings. Maintain an updated R&D project portfolio pipeline.
5. With vision toward creating market value and timely commercialization; evaluate new raw materials, including but not limited to: fibers, chemistry, coatings, and films.
6. Hire, manage, review, train, promote, and replace members assigned to R&D area.
7. Maintain ISO9001as directed by corporate quality procedures and standard as instructed by ISO team.
8. Follow corporate guidelines and asses current lab procedures and equipment in the R&D environment.
9. Recommend and implement capital expenditures for R&D.
10. All other duties as assigned by management.
Mandatory Qualifications
Minimum of BS Degree in textile chemistry chemical mechanical polymer engineering or chemistry required.
5 years of experience or advanced degree with 2 years of experience in research or product development.
