Applications Engineering Manager manages all solutions support activities, including the pre-sales scoping process and the post-sales design and implementation activities for complex technical products. Oversees sales demo preparation and delivery and facilitates technical requirements gathering sessions. Being a Applications Engineering Manager ensures the review of customer technical specifications is accurate and provides solid recommendations of specific products or services. Leads the planning and design of product configuration, custom solutions, enhancements, or upgrades and directs the delivery of problem resolution, repairs, or workarounds. Additionally, Applications Engineering Manager may deliver technical product training or information sessions to customers and internal audiences. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Applications Engineering Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Applications Engineering Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     What We Need:

    We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented designer to join the HNI Workplace Furnishings team. This individual will lead the vision, strategy, and development of creative content for the Allsteel Idea Starters and HON Planning Typicals platforms. Working closely with product development and product launch teams, this individual will be responsible for developing and curating key product application typicals and supporting content, relevant to evolving workplace and vertical market strategies.

    What You Will Do:

    • Lead the vision, strategy, and development of creative content for the Allsteel Idea Starters and HON Planning Typicals platforms.
    • Manage and direct Project Coordinator role and collaborate with relevant support teams.
    • Develop key product applications and creative content, as well as monitor and advise on ongoing typicals content curation.
    • Define evolving typicals standard work and advise on ongoing POV and relevancy monitoring. Advise on ongoing updates to the website to improve user experience and effectiveness.

    What You Have:

    • Bachelor’s degree in interior design, technical degree, or related field is required.
    • CET Experience required.
    • Minimum 4 years design experience required.
    • Experience in space planning, furniture specification, or product design preferred.
    • SketchUp and AutoCAD experience preferred.

    What You’re Good At:

    • Ability to work cross functionally with teams to develop insightful applications and supporting content.
    • Demonstrate critical thinking ability, strong organization, time management, and multi-tasking skills.
    • Excellent communication, problem solving, and analytical skills; attention to detail required.
    • Strong visual communication.
    • Color material finish (CMF) aptitude. Recommend materiality choices to support visualization.
