    Role Overview

    The CNC Programmer provides machining programs for CNC lathes and machining centers for Bimba products. Job duties include providing programs for CNC lathes, mills, Swiss machines, and programming automation. This multi-tasking individual should have a proven ability to work in a team environment in a fast paced continuous improvement atmosphere. Experience in Manufacturing Engineering, tooling, fixturing, and CAM Programming - preferably Esprit a plus, must be familiar with Fanuc, Haas, and Mitsubishi controls. 

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Prepare and maintain programs for multi-axis milling, turning, Mill/Turn and Swiss CNC machine tools.
    • Develop manufacturing processes for new products, and other in-house applications; i.e. gauges, tooling, and fixtures.
    • Design or help in the design of jigs, tools, fixtures, and special equipment for CNC applications.
    • Identify excessive cost; develop methods for cost reductions, and implement identified cost reductions.
    • Assist quality engineers and operators with the validation of new or revised programs & processes.
    • Maintain the integrity of CNC programs and the DNC file system.
    • Communicate and work effectively with manufacturing engineers and design engineers.
    • Assist systems designers, hardware specialists and software specialists with the introduction of new technologies and computer advancements into the manufacturing process.
    • Prepare the required documentation for programs and release to the shop floor.
    • Provide ongoing technical support to personnel in the manufacturing divisions in the troubleshooting and resolution of problems related to CNC programs and related Software.
    • Determine if machining processes are appropriate and calculate cycle times for Design Engineering.
    • Provide expert feedback on design for manufacturability and suggest ideas for making products more cost effectively.
    • Conduct studies to improve the performance and efficiency of established CNC programs.
    • Regularly interact with Engineering Departments to resolve problems relating to prints/processes, and to initiate corrective action when necessary.
    • Research, test, and implement new tooling to keep abreast of the latest tooling and processing technology.
    • Prepare programs for the laser marking machines and maintain program database.
    • Troubleshoot and program automation robots including Universal Robots and Nachi robots.
    • Provide guidance on the selection of new equipment weighing in on capabilities and needs
    • Lead implementation projects of new machinery being the project lead after machine is implemented: develop standard tooling, programming, macros, and process for implementation into production.
    • Work with area leaders and operators on training, troubleshooting and continuous improvement to match efficiency output of the machine justification.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Critical Competencies for Success:

    • 5 years of CNC operating experience.
    • 2 years of hands-on programming experience.
    • 1 year Fanuc Macro B programming
    • Proven ability to independently program G-code machine language
    • Tooling and fixturing knowledge.
    • Shop math background
    • Computer skills in Microsoft Office/Database management
    • SolidWorks 3D modeling experience
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
    • High School Diploma or equivalent

    Preferred:

    • 2 to 5 years CNC CAD/CAM Programming experience
    • Quality Control Experience
    • Associate Degree or some college
    • Alternate programming skills (i.e. Visual Basic) 
    • Knowledge of Esprit Programming Software
    • Experience with programming Robot language
