Applications Programming Manager manages teams and implements policies and procedures related to the design, analysis, testing, coding, and implementation of applications. Enhances operations by establishing metrics, analyzing processes, and implementing standard methodologies, tools, and best practices to ensure high-quality deliverables. Being an Applications Programming Manager reviews development proposals, projects, timelines, resources, and costs. Leads feedback processes for peer reviews, code reviews, and design reviews. Additionally, Applications Programming Manager establishes a performance culture by incorporating individual and team coaching and mentoring to achieve excellence. May manage outsourcing budgets, vendors, or off-shore resources. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Applications Programming Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an Applications Programming Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Position Summary

    Server as a leader of the Applications Team.

    Responsible for the successful Day-to-day operations of all Business software that supports the Cogentrix computing platform including Oracle PeopleSoft (SCM/FIN), IBM Maximo (CMMS), and other platforms that the business relies on.

    Manage workloads for the Application Team and ensure the team provides a high-level of support for our internal customers as well as needs around plant acquisitions and divestures.

    Work with software vendors on quotes for new software and services. Work with the Business Manager to ensure Contract and Support renewals are recorded so they can be tracked and used for Budget forecasting and Support renewals.

    Create and execute project plans relating to business platform software upgrades and bug fixes. Provide system administration activity associated with plant integrations and divestures. Provide planning assistance to achieve company and department goals.

    Major Duties & Responsibilities

    • Manage the Applications group to ensure successful day-to-day operations of the team and ensure the needs of the business are satisfied.
    • Work closely with the user community to ensure that their needs are being met, set expectations and work on issue resolution.
    • Server as project manager for platform related project plans and be responsible for managing resources and timelines to ensure projects are executed on-time, track metrics, and ensure quality assurance.
    • Work with the Sr Director IT Systems and Application to create and execute facility Acquisition and Divesture project plans.
    • Responsible for ensuring the Business Application platform is current and is under vendor support. Create a strategic plan to ensure the platform is running supported or new components that would befit the organization.
    • Work with the Applications developers to ensure they have the tools and support they need for the products they use.
    • Work with the Security team on mitigating vulnerability issues that pose threats to our Business Application Platform.
    • Work with software vendors on Upgrades, patching and issue resolution for the Business Application Platform. Work with our software vendors on quotes for requests and changes to the platform. Contribute suggestions on improving relationships with existing software vendors and make recommendations on alternate vendor resources as needed.
    • Ensure that the Business Application platform is properly backed up to support the recovery in the event of a critical failure.
    • Ensure High Availability access to the Business Application platform is available for end-users.
    • Work with the Manager – System Administration to ensure we have proper 3rd party Disaster Recovery support and ensure all critical servers that support our business network are included to ensure replication of all critical business systems.
    • Responsible for the deployment of all critical patches that are installed through the Business Application platform.
    • Ensure technical and support documentation is updated and accurate.
    • Work with the Sr Director of Applications and System on yearly budget. Provide recommendations as needed, work with team to determine any new additions required for the yearly budget.
    • Provide employee reviews for all direct reports. Work with Sr Director Applications and Systems on individual employee improvement plan.
    • Identify opportunities and recommend solutions to improve overall system security, performance, reliability, and availability.
    • Ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems.
    • Work with the Security team and business stakeholders to meet systems and systems security needs.
    • Availability to perform as needed after hours work for nights and weekends for both support and maintenance when required.
    • Lead the Maximo MUG (Maximo User Group). Review, discuss and manage changes to the system.

    Education/Experience Required

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or relevant work experience
    • Strong knowledge of Oracle PeopleSoft. Must have functional knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials and Supply-Chain products.
    • Strong knowledge of the IBM Maximo CMMS. Functional knowledge of Maximo a plus.
    • Strong written, verbal communication skills and presentation skills
    • Minimum of 3 years Project Management/AGILE
    • Must be able to take initiative, ownership, and responsibility for projects.
    • Must display positive outlook, leadership, teamwork and collaboration skills.
    • Have a commitment to the highest ethical standards in IT and security.
