As a Technical Applications Specialist, you will serve as a technical liaison between our customers and internal estimating team. You will play a crucial role in our sales process by accurately estimating project costs and preparing competitive bids for potential clients. You will work closely with our sales team, clients, and engineering department to assess project requirements, evaluate costs, and provide detailed proposals. Your ability to comprehend complex technical concepts, communicate effectively, and build strong relationships with customers will be essential for success in this role.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Customer Engagement: Engage with customers to understand their technical requirements, challenges, and objectives.
o Read and interpret technical specifications to gain an understanding of electrical requirements, mechanical requirements, hazardous area requirements, etc.
· Solution Identification: Collaborate with sales and engineering teams to identify and recommend appropriate products or solutions to meet customer needs. This will include both electrical and mechanical components/solutions.
· Customization: Work closely with our engineering team to customize products or solutions to fit specific customer requirements.
· Technical Support: Provide pre-sales technical support to customers.
· Documentation:
o Develop technical proposals.
o Develop bills of materials.
o Create man hour estimates based upon the scope of work.
o Compute project budgets.
o Determine profit margins.
Basic Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Technology, or a related technical curriculum
· 1-5 years’ experience in a process related industry (Oil and Gas or Hydrogen industries preferred)
· Previous experience in a customer-facing technical role such as application engineering, sales engineering, or technical support.
· Background in control systems (both hydraulic and electric).
· Ability to read and understand technical specifications.
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain technical information clearly and concisely.
· Able to prioritize and use time efficiently in order to meet deadlines, while balancing workload of multiple projects simultaneously.
· Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
· Candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, SharePoint).
· It is preferred but not required that the candidate is proficient in Autodesk Mechanical or Autodesk Inventor. Some bid packages require the creation/representation of 2D/3D drawings of the proposed solution (this would typically include General Arrangement drawings, hydraulic schematics, and electrical schematics).
