Applications Programming Manager manages teams and implements policies and procedures related to the design, analysis, testing, coding, and implementation of applications. Enhances operations by establishing metrics, analyzing processes, and implementing standard methodologies, tools, and best practices to ensure high-quality deliverables. Being an Applications Programming Manager reviews development proposals, projects, timelines, resources, and costs. Leads feedback processes for peer reviews, code reviews, and design reviews. Additionally, Applications Programming Manager establishes a performance culture by incorporating individual and team coaching and mentoring to achieve excellence. May manage outsourcing budgets, vendors, or off-shore resources. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Applications Programming Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an Applications Programming Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     We are seeking an Applications Support Project Manager to join our Durham, NC team! 

    Position Summary: 

    The Applications Support Project Manager, under direction of the Team Leader, is responsible for the overall planning, management and completion of assigned projects. This role identifies the technical approach to be used on assigned projects and manages the process through to completion. The Project Manager will work with other staff members to develop project scope of work documents, develop project plans, and will participate in the implementation of the project, as needed. Project management skills are used to manage projects, define project deliverables, identify resource requirements, collaborate with teams and external vendors to gain staff resources, schedule project timelines, find support for training needs, provide progress reports to managers, and ensure quality completion of projects. 

    WHAT You’ll Do: 

    • Manage complex projects/programs as assigned from design and development to training and go-live implementation including:  
    • Define requirements, scope and planning project lifecycle deployment. 
    • Define resources, scheduling and timeline for project/program implementation.  
    • Define organizational impact and engage relevant teams and staff in project implementation.  
    • Create strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning.  
    • Plan, schedule, and create project deliverables, goals, and milestones.  
    • Conduct project kickoff and status meetings, clearly communicating individual roles and project expectations and ensuring that all project team members have the tools and training required to perform effectively.  
    • Efficiently identify and solve project issues.  
    • Demonstrate leadership to define requirements for project risk.  
    • Design and maintain technical and project documentation.  
    • Develop Requests for Proposals (RFP) for external services and assist in the overall RFP process including evaluations and comparative analyses.  
    • Develop and effectively present project plans to appropriate audiences and provide periodic updates as needed.  
    • Ensure appropriate compliance/legal review occurs as part of project planning.  

    WHAT You’ll Need: 

    • Bachelor’s OR equivalent related experience.  
    • 4 years’ hands-on IT/IS project management experience in a high-paced, large or multi-location organization.  
    • Strong Project Management skills including a methodical and structured approach to projects. Project Management Certification preferred but not required.  
    • Experience working in a credit union or other financial institution preferred.  
    • Working knowledge of IT security and financial institution data processing systems.  
    • Preference for working in organizations that place priority on teamwork and collaboration.

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.  
    • Ability to understand complex information and assess business requirements.  
    • Solid leadership skills and the ability to interface and communicate effectively at all levels.  
    • In depth technology skills including deep knowledge of business software applications and the ability to quickly learn new applications, use of MS Project, MS Office and Visio.  
    • A flexible approach to work and the ability to adapt to changing business needs.  
    • The ability to work within budget limits.  
    • Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.  
    • Ability and willingness to travel and work overtime as needed.
