    Salud Para La Gente (SALUD) provides high quality, comprehensive and cost-effective healthcare to underserved low-income communities in the Monterey Bay area, including Santa Cruz County and North Monterey County. We began in Watsonville 1978 as a storefront “free clinic,” and with the ever growing need for health services, in 1992 became a federally qualified community health center (FQHC). Today we are a primary health care network with 11 clinic sites, over 400 employees and continue to provide high quality services to patients of all ages.


    The Clinical Applications Specialist will work under the supervision of the Clinical Applications Manager as a member of the clinic operations team to meet the technological needs of employees using health information technology (HIT) systems including but not limited to: electronic health records (EHR), electronic dental records, practice management systems, and appointment scheduling and billing systems. The position performs a wide variety of functions from help desk support to application training to identifying operational workflow changes that will have downstream systematic impacts to consulting on business needs and processes related to clinical systems. The Clinical Applications Specialist must be able to work effectively with both end users and technical staff. The ideal candidate will combine excellent technical and communication skills with a sincere desire to help people use technology effectively.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    · Responsible for optimizing, maintaining, upgrading, and testing EHR and related software applications, including the development of forms to support effective use of the EHR.

    · Train clinical and operational staff on EHR application, including providers, medical assistants, other clinical staff, front office staff and clinic managers/administrators on use of system including office and clinical workflow.

    · Conduct technical assessments with clinic sites to identify and address current and future business needs related to clinical systems.

    · Identify and use existing resources to support efficient and appropriate workflows within the EHR and other clinical systems.

    · Demonstrate advanced analytical skill and knowledge in multiple healthcare disciplines, such as billing, project supervision, or specific subject knowledge (i.e., medical, dental, mental health).

    · Submit and monitor to resolution trouble tickets with vendor support.

    · Develop and administer auditing functions to support data integrity.

    · Develop a working knowledge of all EHR related applications; e.g. practice management systems, billing systems, interfaces within the organization and be a resource for use of those systems.

    · Perform routine maintenance and performance monitoring of EHR databases.

    · Create, implement and maintain documentation of EHR systems and change management.

    · Consistently adhere to and/or exceed SPLG’s communication guidelines and expectations with internal and external customers including co-workers, patients, and external partners.

    · Communicate effectively by using welcoming words, proper tone of voice, appropriate body language, eye contact and smiling in all interactions. Listen skillfully and display a willingness and ability to acknowledge patient and co-workers’ needs, expectations and values through the use

    of reflective listening and empathy conveyance. Respond to co-worker and patient needs in ways that are helpful and beyond expectation.

    · Work with staff to gather and document technical requirements, plan clinical system improvement projects, and address concerns that arise during any restructuring of existing systems, under the supervision of the Clinical Applications Manager.

    · Act as a liaison between the IT department, clinical staff, operational staff and software vendors regarding specific software product issues.

    · Track and support practice completion of critical practice deliverables.

    · Provides routine status and project reports to management and co-workers as needed.

    · Other duties and projects as assigned.


    Requirements

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree, Industry Certifications, or Equivalent Vocational Experience.
    • Three years’ experience in one or more of the following areas: Health IT (HIT), Healthcare Administration, Medical Billing, Medical Records Management, Medicine, Dentistry, Optometry, Mental Health, Population Health, or Public Health.
    • Greenway Intergy and Epic EHR experience preferred.
    • Two years Information Technology or Healthcare related projects experience.
    • Organized and detail-oriented; ability to work independently.
    • Excellent communication skills, verbally and written.
    • Understanding of health care delivery systems administrative practices.
    • Three years’ experience with electronic health, dental record, or related systems.


    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    • Standing, walking, sitting, typing, reaching, bending, moving and/or lifting up to 25 pounds.


    SALARY & BENEFITS


    Salary: $64,480/year
