This Programming and Communications Manager position is key to our success and requires a highly organized, creative, detail oriented, and motivated person to serve as lead for event planning, management, production, and sponsorship. The primary objective of the Programming and Communications Manager is to implement an annual strategic Event plan for the 5th Street Public Market that is designed to continually deliver a distinctive experience that exceeds our customers’ expectations and will ultimately contribute to driving both traffic and sales and expand brand awareness. This position will work alongside the Market Manager to identify marketing promotion ideas and implementation for events at the 5th Street Public Market.
The Programming and Communications Manager must be able to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines. The Programming and Communications Manager should have a passion for special event management, provide outstanding communication with staff, vendors, tenants, and event attendees, be an enthusiastic professional, and be capable of building strong and positive relationships.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Programming and Communications Manager
o Set, communicate and maintain project timelines and priorities.
o Develop contacts to secure appropriate and good-value vendor hire.
o Solicit and coordinate event committees (internal and external) as needed.
o Outline, strategize, sell and coordinate event sponsorships.
o Liaise with external suppliers including vendors, caterers, speakers, musicians, artists, etc.
o Organize appropriate sponsorship and co-badging of appropriate events.
o Work with Marketing and Market Manager to develop promotional materials.
o When appropriate, implement systems with the administrator to manage invitations, sign-ups, guest lists, discounts, etc.
o Deliver events on time, within budget, that meet expectations.
o On-the-day management of events.

This position operates in both a professional office environment and outdoors. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines, laminators and document binders. This position is routinely outdoors to oversee and participate in Events for the Marketplace, property tours and off sight meetings or events. The noise level is usually moderate to loud.

Certain areas within the marketplace are only accessible by stairs.
