Applications Programming Supervisor supervises the teams and daily activities needed for the analysis, testing, coding, and implementation of applications. Monitors operational metrics and processes and implements standard methodologies, tools, and best practices to ensure high-quality deliverables. Being an Applications Programming Supervisor supports multiple development projects with scheduling, planning, and resource allocation. Conducts feedback processes, including peer reviews, code reviews, and design reviews. Additionally, Applications Programming Supervisor fosters a performance culture using individual and team coaching and mentoring to achieve excellence. May supervise vendors or off-shore resources. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Applications Programming Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be an Applications Programming Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Description

    Job Summary:

     Applications Systems Analyst provides technical leadership, consultation, and support to administrative users of the college’s business systems, assisting with the implementation of new applications, interfaces, system enhancements, workflows, improving the delivery of administrative services to students, faculty and staff.

    This employee evaluates requests and consults in design for new or modified system solutions and interfaces to determine feasibility and compatibility with current system. Identifies and recommends solution development for larger and complex projects and ensures best practice development. Formulates and develops plans at a high level and documents required steps to achieve stated requirements, reviewing plans with management/peers as appropriate. Has a strong role in the manipulation and presentation of business system data.

    Education and Experience: 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems field or 5 years’ experience in managing systems and data that support higher education functional areas.
    • Demonstrated record of continuous learning to stay abreast of changing and emerging trends in Information Technology.
    • Previous experience in college environment required.

     

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Required experience with managing and supporting best-of-breed business systems in an educational setting.
    • Required experience in working with functional areas across higher-education and an understanding basic admissions/enrollment functions including applications, registrar, financial aid, and student accounts.
    • Requires a high level of technical skillset (development, testing, integration and implementation) of applications and interfaces which deliver IT tools and support business functions across the college for the various business systems operations.
    • Familiarity with manipulating and analyzing data in an data analytics tool such as Google Data Studio, PowerBI, or Tableau.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
    • Proficient in a Microsoft software environment including Windows and Office.

                          

    Physical Requirements:

    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

     

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Work with the vendors, related system vendors, and professional services to implement new systems, enhancements, upgrades, and provide overall business system support and troubleshooting including security, accounts and permissions.
    • Learn the functional data and reporting of the major operational areas of the college that operate within college business systems.
    • Streamline system processes and consider best practices in all functional departments.
    • Design, configure, test, and deliver system processes and workflow enhancements to optimize overall college capabilities.
    • Be responsible for ensuring timely updates, reporting and maintenance of IT managed business systems.
    • Assist in maintaining the integrity of all data housed in college application systems and in developing and maintaining data governance artifacts.
    • Assist with the manipulation of business system data in LBC’s data warehouse and the presentation of data in various dashboards and metrics.
    • Provide excellent communication and timely escalation to the Chief Enterprise Architect / Security Officer regarding all projects and assigned applications.
    • Maintain & implement system application protocols, configuration parameters, and control requirements by creating and updating procedures and documentation.
    • Assist in the development and maintenance of user manuals and guidelines related to the configuration of college systems’ settings and workflows.
    • Prepare and streamline application data for automation to the college’s analytics platform.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.
