Roberts Sinto is currently seeking an Applications Engineer to join our Team in Grand Ledge, MI

What You Will Do

Applications Engineer is responsible for analyzing and creating drawings, specifications, proposals and other documentation to prepare time, cost and labor estimates for products and projects. 

General

• Compile accurate and timely estimates for foundry and other equipment
• Research relevant files and historical records and data of labor hours and material costs from previous estimates and job orders found within network archives, Syteline MRP system, and elsewhere
• Obtain quotations for ancillary equipment, component parts, and services from the outside resources when necessary
• Formulate detailed report showing estimated labor hours and material costs for the project, organized according to the content and scope of the project, utilizing appropriate excel spreadsheet
• When necessary, construct new, or revise existing, drawings to show proposed equipment layout, with supporting plan, elevation, and/or detail views utilizing AutoCAD
• Makes trips with Sales Managers when necessary, to help present proposals or attend bid meetings
• Communicates with Director of Contracts and Sales Manager(s) to confirm that milestone for necessary sign-offs on order acceptance and equipment specifications has been achieved prior to processing into Syteline
• Schedule Project Kick-off meeting to include; Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, Accounting, Sales, and Project Management
• Maintain integrity of estimate documents, files, and folders.
• Investigate, audit, and incorporate new technologies, equipment, and processes into new RSC applications

What We Want From You

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience in Applications/Estimating/Business Development in a manufacturing environment. Ideal candidate would have 10 years experience and Foundry experience/knowledge.
• Robotics knowledge and experience
• AutoCAD experience in order to prepare/evaluate conceptual drawings of systems and equipment
• A clear understanding of manufacturing processes
• Microsoft Office software skills are required
• Ability to effectively communicate with both internal and external customers
• Ability to perform basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Ability to analyze and resolve basic problems. Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or equipment, and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk and reach with hands and arms.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, extremes of heat and cold, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
