Applications Programming Supervisor supervises the teams and daily activities needed for the analysis, testing, coding, and implementation of applications. Monitors operational metrics and processes and implements standard methodologies, tools, and best practices to ensure high-quality deliverables. Being an Applications Programming Supervisor supports multiple development projects with scheduling, planning, and resource allocation. Conducts feedback processes, including peer reviews, code reviews, and design reviews. Additionally, Applications Programming Supervisor fosters a performance culture using individual and team coaching and mentoring to achieve excellence. May supervise vendors or off-shore resources. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Applications Programming Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be an Applications Programming Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Position Summary for Student Government, Event Team, Titan Today, Peer Ambassadors & Representatives

    • Encourage student participation and involvement in extracurricular opportunities including activities, events, workshops, panels, clubs and organizations, on and off campus educational programming, etc.
    • Advertise and create marketing materials for events and student opportunities in multiple formats (online, print, expressive arts, etc.)
    • Identify and connect students to resources, supplies, equipment, and materials that promote student success
    • Perform word processing tasks and various clerical duties 
    • Represent Tacoma Community College as a student leader
    • Participate in staff meetings, projects, and partnerships
    • Recruit and spark prospective students into leadership, internships, research and volunteering opportunities
    • Maintain an inclusive, vibrant, and clean environment
    • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

    This recruitment is to establish an applicant pool for future vacancies. Individuals will be contacted as vacancies occur. 

    MESA Peer Ambassadors:

    • Encourage student participation in MESA
    • Advertise and attend events sponsored by MESA
    • Ensure that all students sign in and out of the MESA Center
    • Represent the MESA program on and off-campus and at Outreach events
    • Explain MESA Program qualifications and program overview

    OSE Peer Ambassadors:

    • Collaborate and work with the OSE Director to plan and facilitate the Identity, Culture, and Community (ICC) Workshops throughout the year. 
    • Contact faculty to arrange class meetings, as well as other campus staff and faculty to ensure students and those who serve students are aware of OSE and other campus offerings, as well as to raise the student voice. 
    • Reach out to nontraditional students for their input and feedback.
    • Staff the Collaboratory
    • Plan Alternative Spring Break and other service and volunteer programs and events.

    OSE Titan Today Journalist: 

    • As the Titan Today/Challenge Contributor, you are charged with upholding, advocating, and representing the student voice and reporting on all events that are relevant to the student’s time at TCC, their place in the community, city, state, nation, and beyond.
    • You will be writing articles, creating podcasts, forming social media content, and more to bring to light in a fair and balanced way, issues that affect the student. 
    • You will work with the OSE Director, Program Specialist, the OSE Team to produce the material above to present it to the students, TCC, and the communities surrounding our school.
       

    Event Team Leaders:

    • Plan and Coordinate Physical and Virtual Events, Social Media Content, Marketing, and all other activities associated with events and content below. 
    • Plan and Facilitate student-based events that discuss and promote community, student connection, equity, diversity, inclusion, health and wellness, recreation, and more through various mediums such as on campus and virtual events, artist & lecture series, workshops, panels, mail-out programs, class visits, participation in campus community meetings, and more!
    • Communicate and meet with team members to create and prepare budget plans, reach out to community partners or guest speakers, seek volunteers, design event layouts, and discuss other logistical duties. 
    • Attend weekly team meetings and other planned training, answer and log phone calls and emails, check and respond to work email daily for incoming information, maintain office hours, submit time sheets, and provide stellar customer service to students requesting assistance.
    • Contact and create a student, school, and community network to utilize as resources when planning and coordinating events.

    Student Government Executive Board Elected Representatives:

    • Represent all currently enrolled Tacoma Community College Students
    • Coordinate student voice opportunities including forums, panels, and voter registration
    • Serve on College Council and other committees and groups as assigned
    • Collect feedback and input from students regarding their experience at TCC
    • Participate in student fee budget committees
    • Plan and market Civic Engagement events and Legislative participation activities 

    Committee Representatives:

    • Take a paid student representative training
    • Attend assigned committee meetings on time and with consistency
    • Follow duties as assigned by Committee Chair 
    • Track hours and report progress to Director of Student Engagement or designee
    • Willingness to act and think on behalf of the diverse student body of Tacoma Community College
    • Report to the Student Senate

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Currently enrolled TCC Student
    • Minimum GPA 2.0
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Ability to produce college-level writing
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Canvas, and Zoom
    • Dependability on the job: punctuality, commitment
    • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion

     

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Commitment to multiple quarters is preferred.

     

    Conditions of Employment

    • Some positions require a minimum amount of TCC credits to have already been earned.
    • Successful completion of a criminal history background check prior to employment.
    • Commitment of 10-17 hours per week 
    • Regular and predictable attendance

    Terms of Employment 

    These part-time hourly positions are bound by the WAC 357-04-045 provisions above and is scheduled to work 17 hours per week.  The salary range is $16.28 - $20.00 per hour per hour DOE/DOQ. Flexibility in scheduling is required to meet department needs. TCC Part-time hourly and student employees including work study students, will accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours worked. Hourly non-student employees may be applicable for comprehensive health care benefits package for you and your dependents includes medical, dental and vision insurance. Life and long- term disability insurance plans and retirement benefits are also provided.
