    About the Opportunity


    This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp in the Clearfield Service Center. [SC00]


    Under direct supervision or direction and as assigned; and under general supervision or direction and as assigned performs work on all types of electronic equipment for which they have successfully completed any of the Job Skill Demonstrations.

    Duties:

    1. Assists higher classified personnel in the installation, troubleshooting, testing, calibration and maintenance of all types of electronic equipment used for both voice and data transmission such as two-way radio, microwave radio, fiber optic systems and leased telephone circuits. Also included is Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition, protective relaying and DC systems.
    2. Assists in the investigation of customers' radio and television interference complaints.
    3. Performs routine bench work on all types of electronic equipment.
    4. Plans work and follows steps in an engineering job package.
    5. Performs paperwork necessary for preparation and closeout of assigned tasks.
    6. May be required to work in the field alone or with a helper of equal or lesser classification performing work of a simplified nature, providing he/she is familiar with or has received proper instructions, such as observe and manually initiate the signal associated with all communications channels, in conjunction with higher classified personnel at the opposite terminal of the channel.
    7. Must successfully demonstrate a capability in three of the following categories:
      - Leased Circuits
      - SCADA / RTU
      - Power Line Carrier
      - DC Systems
      - Tone Relaying
      - Radio Controlled Switches
      - Low/High Band Radio Transport
    8. Upon occasion or in emergency, performs other related or less skilled work as required or directed, including the operation of transportation equipment.
    9. Must become familiar with the Company's Tagging Rules and qualify to be placed on the Company's tagging list.

    Requirements:

    1. Must have an accredited associates degree in Electronics or have equivalent Military Training and Education or have three years of recent experience as an electronics technician and must have a valid Associate Level or Journeyman Level ISCET Certification earned within four years of the date of the posting.
    2. Must possess/maintain a valid driver's license, which could include a Commercial Driver's License.
