AMI Systems Analyst
This position is a highly technical position with our utility client that will assure the continuity of valid meter information and other required data from the AMI Headend system and Itron EE, is transferred expediently and accurately to all other systems, internally and externally, for processing billing and other uses. The AMI System Analyst will assure that servers, routers, operating systems, and databases are operating correctly and reporting data; analyze the daily performance of all meters, assure the continuity and high quality of data, monitor the billing success and other operational measures of success, and identify potential operational problem areas. The AMI System Analyst will assure the resolution of any meter exceptions caused by system performance, application or system failures to transmit meter data to post AMI systems or CSS.
The AMI System Analyst will work with other team members to prepare daily analysis of AMI system performance, report problem areas to the summarize performance trends, and develop operational processes to improve data collection. The AMI System Analyst will work with the Energy Sales and Services, Technology Organization (TO), Customer Services, Regulatory and Metering Services to assure data flows from the meter point through various AMI systems to successfully provide data to all required systems in a timely manner.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assure continuous availability of high quality data from the AMI systems
• Very detailed knowledge of the TO issues associated with transporting data from the meter
• Ability to detect anomalies and exceptions to the quality standards for the data
• Troubleshoot AMI headend systems, Itron EE. and CSS Data Exceptions
• Understanding of the technical architecture of the AMI systems
• Identify and troubleshoot hardware and software issues that interrupt data flow
• Provide training as necessary
• Assure the initiation of meter read and other data into the AMI Systems
• Support and enforce the AMI Business process; meter troubleshooting, reading files troubleshooting, meter billing, monitor AMI Network performance (LAN/WAN) monitor integration of the Headend systems with subsequent AMI Systems
• Working with the AMI provider, analyze and isolate problems associated with AMI network (network exceptions).
• Identify Headend exceptions which cause meter data to not report into or out of the Headend Systems (includes troubleshooting the performance of the AMI Network, relays, APs, meter components or Headend system configurations)
• Use, maintain, and refine the AMI performance management systems (AMI Dashboard and AMI Project Tracking System}
• Assist in specifying requirements, designing, building, testing, and evaluating the various systems. Review data several times during each working day to monitor AMI system performance
• Refine the system requirements and develop recommendations for its enhancement and assist in implementing those recommendations
• Provide for the correct systems interfaces, systems integration, and appropriate service levels from SCS/TO.
• Define the functional and technical requirements of system interfaces (especially between the AMI headend systems and ltronEE)
• Work with Metering Services/Meter Data Management and TO to define the appropriate architecture, design, develop, and test interfaces, provide for ongoing maintenance and problem fixes
• Specify TO service level expectations and monitor and measure TO performance against this level
• Write Scripts or software as required for data analysis
• Prepare summaries of AMI operational activities and results for utility client's management
• Report and communicate AMI activities and results as appropriate
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• A four-year degree in computer systems or software engineering and/or development is highly preferred
• Ability to work with and across the various departments management team
• Knowledge of Customer Services billing processes and field services, communications technologies and systems (particularly RF systems), metering technologies. management of multiple activities, and the systems necessary to monitor and measure the deployment of an AMI system is desirable
• Ability to manage complex technology and business issues.
• Occasional "on call" assignments/irregular hours when required.
• Good interpersonal skills-ability to work with managers and peers, vendor and suppliers
