    Description

    Job Summary:

    The Systems Programmer Analyst reports to the CIO and is responsible for the user support of the campus applications. This position is responsible for providing the primary administration, development, and support for Methodist University’s Student Information System, Enterprise Resource Planning system, and associated web portals.

    The analyst will understand complex, mission critical administrative processes, such as admissions, registration, advancement, student life, and advising, and be able to apply technical expertise to the maintenance and improvement of the associated computing applications. The analyst takes a lead role in providing documentation and training to administrative users when new applications are implemented. and will provide follow-up training needs as necessary.

     

    Essential Duties:

    Provide application management and support for the University’s SIS and ERP system, provide web development for the student, staff, and faculty web portal, and collaborate with cross-department users and administrators involved in managing SIS/ERP and other university systems.

    • Participate in ongoing support, training, troubleshooting, documentation, and enhancements for the SIS and ERP.
    • Maintain user accounts and access to portal by following University policy and procedure.
    • Oversee student and business data, in coordination with MU’s Data Governance committee. Includes querying data from core business systems, moving data between systems and interfacing systems using APIs, and providing reports to data stakeholders.
    • Works as part of larger cross-department teams to facilitate data usage across university systems. 
    • Work closely with the IT team to provide tiered application support and development. Maintain user access and permissions, troubleshoot application issues, and help to plan and implement new features and improvements to current features, etc.
    • Maintain productive working relationships with individuals and departments throughout the university and across both campuses that yield a strong understanding of the university’s complex needs. 
    • Identify and implement improvements in technologies, processes, and procedures through analysis of recurring issues.
    • Lead systems training and the creation of educational materials for technical and non-technical users. 

    Qualifications


    Experience:

    • 3-5 years’ experience supporting and developing web applications, preferably in a higher education environment working with a leading Student Information System (Jenzabar, Ellucian, Anthology, etc.).
    • Experience with managing application security including authentication, access permissions, data encryption, log monitoring, and security testing.
    • Experience with systems integration using APIs – REST, SOAP, and RPC.
    • Experience with business intelligence architecture, data warehouse development and management, and data modeling.
    • Experience with Excel, Power Query, Power Pivot, Power View, plus experience with PowerBI desktop, server and reporting.
    • Web programming tools (e.g., HTML, CSS, ASP.NET, CGI scripting, and JAVA Script).

     

    Education/Certification:

    • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred. Combination of education and work experience other than a bachelor’s will be considered
