APPRAISAL MANAGER leads a team of appraisers conducting assessments, valuations, and appraisal reviews of real estate, land, and other personal property to establish the market value generally used for lending, insurance, or other purposes. Establishes processes for conducting on-site inspections of property and data collection required to perform valuations. Being an APPRAISAL MANAGER follows generally accepted appraisal practice concepts and practices to perform data analysis, develop valuation estimates, and write comprehensive reports and exhibits. Ensures appraisal documentation and appraiser certification comply with all regulations. Additionally, APPRAISAL MANAGER performs appraisal quality reviews to ensure appropriate valuation and minimize risk. Creates process efficiencies with appraisal software tools and databases. May require a bachelor's degree. Has the Member of the Appraisal Institute (SRPA) or similar designation. Requires a State Appraiser License. Typically reports to a director. The APPRAISAL MANAGER manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an APPRAISAL MANAGER typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     JOB SUMMARY:
    Responsible for performing machine inspections and creating machine condition reports.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    • Inspect and test equipment. Create machine inspection reports.
    • Estimate repair cost to help calculate machine values.
    • Validate and confirm accuracy of information provided in inspection request.
    • Report inspection findings to sales managers and staff.
    • Assist in maintaining and improve methods and standards of used equipment inspection, valuation, repair and merchandising.
    • Coordinate inspection schedule and requests.
    • Develop and present inspection training to improve sales force product knowledge.
    • Assist Sales Account Managers by accompanying them on client visits and providing advice regarding repair cost.
    • Work safely at al times. Adhere to all applicable safety policies. Comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
    ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Proficient understanding and use of Empire systems to include; Service History, SIS Web, Sales Invoice Application, Inventory Fast Facts, Machine POP, Sales and Account Link, Used Request Tool and Warranty.
    • Proficient understanding and use of Caterpillar systems to include; Catused.com, Cat Facts, parts store, PIP and service letter look up and any other Cat information sites that are useful to the equipment inspection process.
    • Must be willing to learn and be knowledgeable about competitive brands as well as CAT equipment.
    • Must be familiar with and comply with all company policies and procedures.
    • Must have in depth knowledge of CAT products and applications as well as competitive and allied products.
    • Must have math skills sufficient for calculating cost and percentages.
    • Must be able to operate all types of heavy construction and mining equipment.
    • Extensive knowledge of equipment repair.
    • Must follow all safety policies, always use personal protection equipment (PPE) when applicable or required.
    • Must understand and follow all client safety policies while on client sites and equipment.
    • Work within and promote corporate values.
    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    • Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.
    • Technical skills sufficient to be able to work through product issues. Must have mechanical aptitude.
    • Must be able to pull Oil Samples from all required equipment fluid compartments, fill out and track results.
    • Must be able and willing to travel statewide, nationwide, and international.
    • Must maintain a current passport.
    • Must have professional interpersonal skills to sooperatively interact with internal and external customers.
    • Must be highly competent and experienced in the effective and safe operation of heavy construction and mining equipment.
    • Must have working knowledge of the Caterpillar and competitive product line including model designations and equipment applications.
    • Must have working knowledge of machinery customers and their operations.
    • Must be knowledgeable of all Empire operating departments and understand when and how those departments can add or assist with inspections and appraisals.
    • Must be able to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies and use of all required safety equipment.
    • Must have acceptable attendance to meet all company standards and requirements.
    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
    • Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a job-related field.
    • Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
