  • Being a Land Development Design Principal in a truly multi-disciplinary design firm requires a person who enjoys collaboration at all levels. Collaboration with the client, the architect, fellow landscape architects and engineers is just the beginning. Imagine your team including experts in wayfinding & environmental graphics, sustainability and regenerative design, an advanced digital visualization team, including AR/VR applications, and branding & experience design. This is an opportunity for collaboration at an unmatched level. As such, this is a unique position for a unique individual. The ideal Design Principal will enjoy the business development hunt as well as project execution. You’ll demonstrate and engage in constant communication, both verbal and graphic with all levels of clients and staff. You’ll have the opportunity to work on a broad array of project types and all phases of design—from planning to design review, to field work.

    As one of the nation’s most progressive design firms, Little is seeking a Design Principal who can continually elevate the quality of our work in our Land Development Studio through positive leadership, a collaborative work style, a love for business development and deep design expertise. This high-impact position works with a multidisciplinary team while leading the design of a wide range of project types and is responsible for business development, client interaction, identifying challenges, crafting ideas and executing solutions that elevate our client’s performance.

    • Design leadership. A talented designer and creative problem solver with deep experience designing projects across multiple project types.
    • Industry Thought Leader. A Landscape Architect with active involvement in industry-related organizations and/or recognition of award-winning designs
    • Sustainable & Future-Thinker. Someone knowledgeable of and passionate about sustainable and regenerative design strategies and implementation
    • Research Proficiencies. You are comfortable with complex client research, benchmarking, and synthesis of qualitative and quantitative data to support an executive-level business decision, narrative, or conclusions
    • Team Leader. A leader who is a champion for others and builds followership through empathetic listening, genuine care, and collaboration
    • Great Communicator. Someone who can simplify complex ideas and articulate them in a way that people understand; in turn, you also listen to understand.
    • Active Mentor. A teacher/mentor who can lead design while working with and developing the talents of others
    • Continuous Learner. Someone who has knowledge of the latest design trends and technologies including working knowledge of the latest design software
    • Culture Builder. Someone who knows how to have fun, can be fun to work with and who wants to have a meaningful impact.
