Being an Art Director Assistant reviews the work of videographers, photographers, designers, and graphic artists. Requires knowledge of typography, layout, color, and visual communication. Additionally, Art Director Assistant requires a bachelor's degree of art or design. Typically reports to Art Director. The Art Director Assistant gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Basic Responsibilities
    • Develop and lead an array of initiatives within the Siburt Institute.
    • Manage and participate in consultive work with churches and other organizations.
    • Conduct research and writing related to consultive work and research.
    • Represent and assist the VP/ED in consultation, programs, outside relationships with other ministry partners, and research.

    Essential Duties
    • Develop and lead an array of new initiatives within the Siburt Institute. In conversation with other SI personnel and at the direction of the VP/ED, the Assistant Director will launch new initiatives in areas like new ecclesial forms, mental health for ministers, and possible additional research projects in consultation with the SI Research Director.
      • Network and collaborate with necessary internal and external partners for each identified initiative.
      • Communication and dialogue with the VP/ED and other Siburt personnel as appropriate.
      • Handle budgetary and project management aspects of the initiatives as appropriate.
    • Manage and participate in consultive work with churches and other organizations.
      • Conduct timely communication with clients.
      • Offer teaching, preaching, consultation, wisdom, and resources as appropriate.
      • Conduct focus groups, observe meetings, and takes notes.
      • Practice effective coding of data and prepare reports.
      • Engage with churches, leaders, and ministers in face-to-face interactions or remote communication.
    • Conduct research and writing related to consultive work and research.
      • Help the VP/ED and the SI Research Director determine the program design, structure, and content of new projects.
      • In consultation with the VP/ED, develop and manage ongoing projects.
      • Carry out necessary aspects of those projects as appropriate.
      • Engage in the necessary writing and communication work to disseminate learning through both scholarly and popular level venues.
    • Represent and assist the VP/ED in consultation, programs, outside relationships with other ministry partners, and research.
      • Engage in representing the Siburt Institute with external and internal partners as needed.
      • Assist the VP/ED as directed in projects as needed.
      • Provide direct research support to the VP/ED.
      • Assist with general filing and writing work to document Siburt Institute activity.
      • Work with partner institutions and host churches regarding consultive work and other Siburt-related activity.

    Professional Development Requirements
    • Skills
    • High proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required. Proficiency in PowerPoint and Publisher preferred.
    • High proficiency in Google Drive (Docs and Sheets) and Calendar required.
    • High-level skills in professional writing and editing required. Must exhibit strong abilities in spelling, grammar, and style.
    • Capacity and knowledge to interact with ministers, elders, and other congregational leaders with confidence and clarity.
    • Training Modules Required (training will be provided for the following programs)
      • Google
      • Qualtrics

    Qualifications
    • ACU is affiliated with the fellowship of the Churches of Christ. This position requires the employee to be a professing Christian and to be willing to support the Christian mission of ACU. Knowledge and membership within the Churches of Christ is preferred. Additionally, the Office of Church Relations (Siburt Institute for Church Ministry) works closely with churches and congregational leaders, primarily within the Churches of Christ. The employee in this position must be able to interact professionally and collegially with Christian leaders.
    • Personal Qualifications (Required)
    • Graduate education in ministry and theology required. (MDiv or higher preferred).
    • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
    • Ability to complete tasks and projects independently and responsibly.
    • Strong verbal, written and public speaking communication skills.
    • Capacity to work with people in complex situations with grace and good will.
    • Must handle confidential information with discretion and good judgment.
    • Friendly, collaborative demeanor.

    Physical Demands
    • Able to carry boxes or other items weighing 15-20 pounds.
    • Travel is expected with this position.
    • Able to work extra hours on an as-needed basis.
    • Able to work at a computer or sit in meetings for hours at a time.
    • Must function efficiently and maintain self-control in stressful situations.
    • Preference will be given to persons who can drive and possess a good driving record.
