Art Director directs and develops the creative design and execution of visual communications to meet an organization's marketing or advertising objectives. Provides internal clients with design standards, tools, and guidance on communicating corporate image, branding, and identity. Being an Art Director leads the design and production operations of all visual elements including publications, infographics, and social content, that are deployed across digital, interactive and print. Stays current on latest trends. Additionally, Art Director develops a network of vendors, freelance artists, and designers to utilize for project support. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in art, graphic design or equivalent. Typically reports to top management. The Art Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Description
The Baum School of Art, a non-profit community visual arts school in Allentown, PA, seeks part-time instructors for a our busy summer camp season. Ideal candidates are talented artists and educators, passionate about teaching and encouraging students to develop their creativity and technical skills in visual art and design through exciting and innovative lessons that build confidence in artists of all abilities. In addition to having excellent technical skill as artists, Baum School instructors must be personable, punctual, organized, have a positive and inclusive classroom management strategy, and love working with people.
Currently, there are openings for summer camp instructors from mid-June through mid-August, with camp teaching assignments running Monday-Friday 9am-12pm and/or 1pm-4pm. During the academic year, youth classes run during after school hours and on Saturdays.
Seeking the following Teaching Specialties
· General Art Education for Youth – Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Mixed Media
· Digital Art
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education, Studio Art, or related field preferred
· Expertise in the visual arts
· Computer proficient, particularly MS Office – Word, Outlook, Excel
· Experience with and enthusiasm for working with youth, particularly adapting instructional style to different kinds of learners
· Read, write, speak, and understand the English language at a level adequate to perform the job
· Strong organization, interpersonal, and communication skills, both written and verbal
· Ability to work independently
· Applicant must complete PA Criminal and Child Abuse Check, and FBI Fingerprinting
Physical Requirements
Position requires the ability to sit, talk and hear. Requires some walking and standing. Occasionally required to lift up to 25lbs. Some local travel required. Employee must have own transportation.
