Art Director directs and develops the creative design and execution of visual communications to meet an organization's marketing or advertising objectives. Provides internal clients with design standards, tools, and guidance on communicating corporate image, branding, and identity. Being an Art Director leads the design and production operations of all visual elements including publications, infographics, and social content, that are deployed across digital, interactive and print. Stays current on latest trends. Additionally, Art Director develops a network of vendors, freelance artists, and designers to utilize for project support. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in art, graphic design or equivalent. Typically reports to top management. The Art Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget.     Summary of Position:

    The Director of Marketing and Communications is a key leader member of the Marketing and Communications (MarComm) team and the TAM leadership team. The Director of Marketing and Communications plans and implements strategic and tactical marketing and public relations plans for all exhibitions, educational programs, events, community initiatives, and other outreach efforts to increase and elevate Museum’s visibility, support, and attendance.

     

    Core Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies and annual marketing and communications plans to promote Museum programming, increase brand awareness, drive engagement, and generate leads.
    • Along with Marcomm team, develop and execute project plans including advertising, media buying, social media, and public relations.
    • Create and manage annual Marcomm budget
    • Lead and supervise the Marketing and Communications team to ensure successful completion of tasks
    • Collaboratively create and distribute TAM press releases
    • Lead cross-departmental meetings to ensure work and activities are
    • Collaborate with staff and leaders across Curatorial, Education, Development, Museum Business Services, and Administration departments.
    • Identify trends and insights to make informed decisions to drive attendance to
    • Evaluate end-to-end customer experience and ROI across multiple channels and customer
    • Manage and implement all of TAM’s social media channels
    • Manage and implemented TAM’s member E-news and public e-blasts
    • Collaborate with the MarComm team and departments to lead the creation, development, and delivery of multimedia content for usage on the website and social media in support of the museum’s mission.
    • Manage the production of current and emerging multimedia content for use on digital platforms.
    • Respond to external customer inquiries and reviews via internal (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, etc.) and external (e.g. TripAdvisor, Yelp, etc.) online platforms.
    • Observe established TAM and museum industry standards by:
      • Adhering to TAM’s established graphic identity and style
      • Keeping abreast of developments in web and multimedia design and communication and digital design tools and techniques.
      • Observing legal copyright requirements
    • Develop, deliver, maintain, and update TAM’s website to provide an engaging visitor experience by developing content, leading design changes, tracking engagement and more

    Required Skills/ Knowledge/ Ability/ Experience or Education:

    • Degree in Business, Communications, Public Relations, or related field and/or 5 years equivalent level of training and experience
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access; Adobe Photoshop, and social media tools.
    • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal under time
    • Excellent project management and decision-making
    • Excellent interpersonal skills: individual must be personable and diplomatic in working with diverse constituency and staff.
    • Experience using best practices in marketing (including related technology), public relations, social media, graphic design, internet marketing, and printing industry.
    • Experience leading staff
    • Knowledge of regional and national marketing trends for arts organizations/museums as well as internet/website management.

     

    Travel, Working Conditions, Physical Requirements and Environment include:

    • Continuously exchanges information through listening and talking with funders, staff, volunteers and individuals in the community;
    • Must be able to perform job duties at a workstation and/or a computer screen for majority of the workday
    • Frequent movement while performing duties and in traveling to off-site meetings;
    • Frequently reaches and grasps in using telephones, computers and in general operations;
    • Frequently lifts and carries up to 5 of paperwork, files, and materials; occasionally moves up to 20 lbs. of event materials;
    • Frequently to occasionally perform close work while updating files, reading program information and using computer;
