Art Manager manages the creative design and execution of visual communications to meet an organization's marketing or advertising objectives. Provides internal clients with design standards, tools, and guidance on communicating corporate image, branding, and identity. Being an Art Manager oversees the design and production operations of all visual elements including publications, infographics, and social content, that are deployed across digital, interactive and print. Monitors projects and timelines. Additionally, Art Manager stays current on latest trends. Develops and manages a network of vendors, freelance artists, and designers to utilize for project support. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in art, graphic design or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Art Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an Art Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Art Instructor

  • Basic Function: The instructor is responsible for the effective delivery of art course instruction; facilitation of student learning and success; the on-going development of curriculum and learning strategies, which meet the needs of students and employers; and the supervision of students. Additionally, the instructor will collaborate with other faculty and staff members to provide quality instruction for a diverse student population and will perform instructional duties and responsibilities in accordance with the philosophy, mission, policies and procedures of the College.
    The successful candidate will possess awareness of visual arts curriculum development and assessment; experience with digital technology (Macintosh preferred) and ability to teach use of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator software programs. The candidate should present excellent written and oral communication skills, knowledge of art gallery management, and an interest in providing art studio courses for a broad range of students in other disciplines.

    Qualifications: Candidates must equal or surpass minimal instructional requirements established by the College's Quality Faculty Plan or demonstrate annual progress towards that attainment. Must possess a Master's degree in Art or Art History, or in a related discipline with 18 graduate hours in Art and Design Foundations, Drawing, Photography, and Graphic Design. Candidates should possess well-developed teaching skills with two years' teaching experience, and must be committed to the philosophy of the comprehensive community college.


    Responsibilities:

    • Prepare for and deliver effective instruction and perform teaching-related activities which may include evening courses and teaching via alternative delivery systems such as online and off-campus.
    • Use active learning strategies, such as hands-on projects and critiques, to enhance students' artistic abilities and develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
    • Encourage open communication and constructive feedback among students and the instructor to foster a collaborative and respectful classroom environment.
    • Plan, implement, and sponsor appropriate activities to supplement instruction based on Quality Matters standards and sound instructional design principles.
    • Assist in selecting textbooks, developing/updating curricula, completing reports (including accreditation reports), tracking/reporting assessment data, and contributing to program review/strategic planning.
    • Maintain records and files (i.e. grades, assessments, program review, annual update materials, department reports, etc.) and perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Division Chairperson and the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Learning, relating to the best interest of the program and student success.
    • Evaluate, record, and report attendance. Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
    • Participate as possible in professional development activities at the College and within state and regional organizations. Prepare annual Quality Faculty Plan and execute personal development program to enhance course content knowledge and teaching effectiveness skills.
    • Maintain skills in teaching methods, course development, and professional development as recommended by Division Chair and Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Learning.
    • Attend departmental and institutional meetings. Serve actively on institutional committees. Support student organizations and activities.
    • Participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, promote the education/training programs of the College, and participate in efforts to market NIACC.
    • Establish and maintain effective professional relationships with staff, students, faculty and other NIACC stakeholders. Communicate effectively with individuals from diverse ethnic, racial, socioeconomic, gender, and disabilities populations.
    • Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position. Be attentive to detail, accurately follow written and oral instructions, and work independently; use tact, courtesy, and exercise good judgment.
    • Serve as a resource and liaison to part-time faculty as needed.
    • Work with NIACC partners, including but not limited to concurrent enrollment instructors, high school partnerships, Continuing Education, and business partners.
    • Perform in a manner which strengthens the coordination and cooperation of all organizational components of the College including opportunities for student recruitment.
