Art Manager manages the creative design and execution of visual communications to meet an organization's marketing or advertising objectives. Provides internal clients with design standards, tools, and guidance on communicating corporate image, branding, and identity.     Job Summary:

    Under the general direction of the Head of Security and Safety, the Security Manager: assists with the management of security operations to ensure compliance with museum policies, directives, and procedures; assists with the development and direction of security strategy and policy; and trains, supervises, and coordinates the daily activities of the security team directly or indirectly through direction of the security supervisors.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • 3 years of experience in security or related field.
    • 5 years of supervisory experience.
    • Active HI security guard license or the ability to obtain one.
    • High School diploma or equivalent.
    • Valid Driver’s License.
    • Must be able to work weekends and additional day and night hours as needed.
    • Must demonstrate broad knowledge of security principles, managerial principles and practices, and leadership skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills in areas including verbal and written communication, customer service, and public relations.
    • Possess tact, patience, and discretion when dealing with people of varying backgrounds and temperaments.
    • Ability to plan and execute multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Ability to embrace evolving technologies and processes.
    • Ability to take initiative, respond to emergencies or changing conditions, and make appropriate decisions in challenging situations.
    • Honesty, integrity, enthusiasm, perspective, and a strong work ethic supported by commitment and follow-through.
    • Ability to work within and support a diverse community of visitors, artists, and employees.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • An advanced degree in a related field such as Criminal Justice, Business Administration, or Public Administration.
    • Certifications such as CPP, APP, PSP (ASIS International), and/or CISSP (ISC).
    • Experience in a museum environment or nonprofit organization with multiple sites and varying degrees of need.
    • Working knowledge of analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence as it relates to security technology.
    • Understanding of Honolulu Museum of Art’s established identity and dedication to advancing it.

    Essential Duties:

    • Provides direction, leadership, and coordination of daily security operations for the protection of people, property, and assets of the Museum.
    • Ensures officer and supervisor compliance with departmental rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
    • Responds to and conducts investigations of all incidents involving criminal/suspicious activities, fire/medical emergencies, natural/man-made disasters, vandalism, hazardous conditions, and other incidents.
    • Designs, plans, and provides initial, refresher, and continuing training for security staff.
    • Maintains compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
    • Maintains training and compliance records for security staff.
    • Establishes, maintains, and reviews schedules for deployment of security staff, minimizes avoidable overtime and use of contracted supplemental security caused by staff shortages, and responds to schedule changes.
    • Coordinates the daily security schedule either directly or indirectly through security supervisor team.
    • Tracks and approves requests for time off including vacation, sick, and personal leave to ensure site coverage; responds to off-hours situations involving staff shortages to ensure sites have coverage.
    • Assists in the recruitment, supervision, evaluation, and mentorship of the security team.
    • Demonstrates a commitment to fostering, cultivating, and preserving a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion through respectful communication and cooperation with others at all times, continuous training, and modeling inclusive behaviors.
    • In partnership with HR, supports the leadership team in ensuring equitable experiences, strengthening inclusion acumen, and promoting a culture of inclusivity and belonging that embraces the contributions of all staff.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Head of Security and Safety.

    Compensation

    The Honolulu Museum of Art is committed to practicing salary transparency. The minimum salary for this position is $50,000 per annum and the maximum salary is $60,000 per annum. Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. Many factors are taken into consideration when setting pay, including education, experience, the external labor market, and internal equity.     Working Conditions and Atmosphere:

    Works in both an office and wider Museum environment. General office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 pm with flexible scheduling as needed, including second and third shifts. Ability to operate general office equipment including computer, copier, printers, fax machine, etc. Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, up to 50 lbs. of general office material or equipment and occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The Security Manager may be asked to stand or walk for extended periods inside or outside of Museum buildings.
