Art Manager manages the creative design and execution of visual communications to meet an organization's marketing or advertising objectives. Provides internal clients with design standards, tools, and guidance on communicating corporate image, branding, and identity. Being an Art Manager oversees the design and production operations of all visual elements including publications, infographics, and social content, that are deployed across digital, interactive and print. Monitors projects and timelines. Additionally, Art Manager stays current on latest trends. Develops and manages a network of vendors, freelance artists, and designers to utilize for project support. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in art, graphic design or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Art Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions.     Job Summary
    :
    Manager of Youth Programs develops, manages, and implements Youth Initiatives, Explorers Program, and Camp NMOA. Oversee teen program highlighting college, career, and life readiness skills that enables Newark-area high school students to build essential skills and self-confidence through a curriculum that draws upon the Museum’s unique collections, resources, and staff. Each year, 40 students from diverse backgrounds learn about their passions and strengths and develop new skills as public speakers, teachers, researchers, and leaders. Develops curriculum for Explorers Program focused on college readiness, professional development, and life-skills. Supervise and support camp staff. This individual must have a commitment to working in a team-based environment that values innovation, creative learning, risk taking and experimentation. Ensure an ongoing and productive conversation with a diverse and growing audience.

    Work Schedule:
    This position is a full-time, hybrid onsite/remote position, required to work onsite at least 4 days per week /may work from home up to 1 day per week. During camp, it is required to work onsite at least 5 days a week.

    Duties and Responsibilities
    :
    • Develop, implement, and evaluate a wide range of virtual and/or in-person youth programs such as informal workshops, teen-led tours, teen events, and more; these programs are for pre-teens and teens, middle school, and high school.
    • Prepare budgets and monitor the associated expenses, preparing bi-weekly timesheets of part-time Museum Teachers for payroll purposes, organizing, and supervising registration and purchasing materials, writing, and editing copy for brochures and website promotions, recruiting, and supervising part-time teachers when applicable.
    • Develop, in partnership with other Museum educators and curators, new virtual and/or in-person programs and experiences for teens and Camp NMOA, including tours and hands-on activities, that connect to the temporary exhibitions and the permanent collection.
    • Design Explorers schedules for internship rotations throughout the Museum.
    • Collaborate with Museum departments to custom Explorer internships.
    • Focus on project-based learning to assist teens in gaining real-life experiences.
    • Partner with art, science, and institutions of higher learning to create dynamic field trips for Explorers Program that include college-based tours.
    • Evaluate the strengths of the Explorers Program based on student/parent feedback and on-going evaluations.
    • Develop and co-design collaborative virtual and/or in-person programs with youth organizations in Newark and surrounding cities.
    • Organize and develop curriculum for virtual and/or in-person Camp NMOA.
    • Facilitate professional development and training for Camp NMOA staff, including organizing training for Child Abuse and First Aid/CPR.
    • Manage Camp NMOA staff, including schedules, recess, pre-care, and aftercare.
    • Manage Camp NMOA registration for virtual and/or in-person camp.
    • Teach virtual and/or in-person school program classes and workshops as needed.
    • Help the Public Program team with non-teen programs when necessary.
    • Other duties required to meet the organization's mission.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • 3-5 years of successful experience in the development and implementation of youth programming in a museum or similar arts education institution.
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
    • 2 years of experience in managing staff.
    • Proven experience working with diverse groups of youth and communities.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Adobe Pro, Web Conferencing software and knowledge of social media practices.
    • Strong organizational and effective communication skills

    Physical Demand:
    • Available for flexible schedule evenings and weekends
    • Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time and move about.
    • Ability to receive, give and understand information and instructions.
    • Ability to lift and move, up to fifteen (15) pounds.

    Salary
