Harmony Oaks Recovery Center in Newport, Tennessee, is seeking a dedicated and passionate Art Therapist to join our team and provide creative and therapeutic interventions for individuals with substance use disorders. As an independent contractor (1099), you will play a vital role in designing and implementing art therapy sessions tailored to meet the specific needs of clients undergoing addiction recovery at our facility. Your expertise in art therapy techniques and your understanding of addiction and recovery will contribute to creating a healing environment that supports clients on their journey to sobriety.
Responsibilities:
1. Conduct Art Therapy Sessions: Plan, organize, and facilitate individual and group art therapy sessions at Harmony Oaks Recovery Center to address the emotional, cognitive, and behavioral challenges clients face during addiction recovery. Utilize various art materials and techniques to encourage creative expression and self-discovery as part of the therapeutic process.
2. Emotional Support in Recovery: Provide a supportive and non-judgmental environment to clients, helping them explore and express their feelings, thoughts, and experiences through art-making. Art therapy can aid clients in processing emotions related to their addiction, trauma, and recovery process.
3. Integration with Treatment Team: Collaborate closely with other members of the treatment team at Harmony Oaks Recovery Center, including counselors, therapists, and medical staff. Communicate effectively with team members to ensure a holistic and integrated approach to client care.
4. Ethical Standards: Adhere to the ethical guidelines and standards set forth by relevant professional organizations in the field of art therapy and substance abuse treatment. Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Art Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Certification as a Registered Art Therapist (ATR) through the Art Therapy Credentials Board (ATCB) is preferred.
- Proven experience in providing art therapy interventions in a substance abuse treatment setting or with individuals in recovery from addiction.
- Strong understanding of addiction and recovery principles, as well as the challenges faced by individuals seeking treatment for substance use disorders.
- Empathetic, compassionate, and patient demeanor with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to support clients at Harmony Oaks Recovery Center in their recovery journey.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team at Harmony Oaks Recovery Center.
- Proficient in maintaining confidential client records and documenting session progress in compliance with substance abuse treatment regulations and best practices.
