Art Manager manages the creative design and execution of visual communications to meet an organization's marketing or advertising objectives. Provides internal clients with design standards, tools, and guidance on communicating corporate image, branding, and identity. Being an Art Manager oversees the design and production operations of all visual elements including publications, infographics, and social content, that are deployed across digital, interactive and print. Monitors projects and timelines. Additionally, Art Manager stays current on latest trends. Develops and manages a network of vendors, freelance artists, and designers to utilize for project support. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in art, graphic design or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Art Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an Art Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Art Instructor

  • Daily Duties, Functions, and Responsibilities:

    • Adhere to the schedule set forth by the Supervisor.

    • Ensure materials and supplies are stocked and re-stocked throughout the day.

    • Engage with each patron directly, giving each the attention they deserve, and making them feel welcomed while working to meet their needs quickly and efficiently.

    • Politely and respectfully address customers’ questions, regardless of their knowledge or experience.

    • Maintain a clean and organized work area.

    • Maintain a pleasant work environment for customers and colleagues.

    • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) governing operations, playing the role of brand ambassador of the Sawdust Festival.

    • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

    Art Instructor Specific Duties:

    • Interact directly with guests in the Art Spot and Studio One, providing art instruction for all ages. You must be comfortable with teaching and public speaking or willing to learn.

    • Assist with artist led classes in Studio One, providing support and supplementary instruction to guests.

    • Prepare class materials for the week and ensure that class bins are properly stocked.

    Potter/Ceramicist Specific Duties:

    • Teach guests of all experience levels the basics of how to throw a pot, this should be done in a timely manner and with a positive attitude.

    • Manage the line of guests and run support for co-workers throwing on the wheel.

    • Properly dispose of clay water, reclaim slip, wedge clay, and divide clay for the day.

    • Occasionally teach hand building sessions to 5-10 guests at a time.

    • Occasionally work with the gas kiln and electric kiln


    Pay Range
    $16.00 to $18.00 per hour, for art instructors
    $16.50 to $20.00 per hour, for throwers

    Qualifications:

    • Available to work day-time, evening, and weekend shifts

    • Art Instructors: art experience, teaching experience, or experience working with kids preferred.

    • Potter/Ceramicist: clay throwing experience required.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Exceptional customer service skills.

    • Ability to multi-task.

    • Grace under pressure.

    Working Conditions:

    Work is typically performed in an open-air, roofed studio.


    Physical Requirements:

    • Art Instructors will bend, reach, pick up small objects, and utilize common artistry tools and paints.

    • Potters/Ceramicist will work at a wheel, shaping clay. This requires a fair amount of hand manipulation and sitting for extended periods.

    • Employees for Art Education may be expected to lift 50lbs.
