This position of the Long Product Hot Rolling Mill Stand Assembly Operator is responsible for all operating functions as listed below. Proper assembling of the roll units must be understood in total with the focus of utilizing the equipment to meet all the quality and productivity goals in a safe manner.
DUTIES
1.Communication with the Roll Shop Shift Leader, Roll Shop Group Leader is essential to know what guides to assemble for upcoming dimension changes and/or back up rolls for current product.
2.Must work together as a member of crew, communicating with each other in the normal course of the day's work.
3.Once the rolling schedule is determined, the stand operator will retrieve necessary rolls and components from inventory and stage for assembling of the roll units ensuring that all set-up procedures and safety protocols have been followed.
4.Dismantle and re-assemble all roll units components to the desired dimensions and set-up.
5.Responsible for utilizing JSA's, flow charts, set-up sheets and checklists to ensure proper set up of stands and mill equipment.
6.Coordinate roll set ups to meet the needs of the rolling mill and the forward rolling schedule.
7.Responsible to be adequately cross trained in all areas of the roll shop duties in order to step in and fulfill other responsibilities when necessary
8.Keep proper documentation (paper and computer) to allow for a proper maintenance schedule of the equipment.
9.Inspection and replacement of all worn and malfunctioning components and seals.

a.Operation of overhead crane
b.Operation of forklift
c.Use a variety of mechanical hand tools
d.Use a variety of measuring devices
e.Exhibit excellent housekeeping and safety behaviors
f.Assist the rolling mill crews on changeovers and other mill adjustments when deemed necessary by supervision
g.Housekeeping and work area organization.
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of a high school degree or equivalent required
Basic mechanical experience and background required.
General metal working and fabrication experience preferred.
