    • Position Purpose
    Under the direct supervision of the Athletic Director, the Assistant Athletic Director - Compliance guides the eligibility compliance process in conjunction with the Athletic Director. This includes preparing student-athletes (SA) for eligibility submission prior to and during the season of participation, working with all SA to maintain eligibility, maintaining all compliance files and data, creating regular and annual reports, assisting SA to transfer to universities, coordinate with the athletic academic advisor, coordinate with the athletic trainer for health forms and training compliance, and assists the Athletic Director.
    This position will work with a defined number of athletic teams specified by either Fall or Spring sports. The purpose is to help student-athletes (SA) achieve the highest levels of academic success and most importantly, graduate from Hocking College.
    Finally, this position works with the staff in the student center to schedule, promote and coordinate recreation programming for the student body.
    • Duties and Responsibilities
      • Assist the Athletic Director in preparing all SA for the eligibility process. This includes coordinating orientation presentations and documents at tryouts and offseason orientations and building SA databases.
      • Assist the Athletic Director in the eligibility submission process for all associations, most notably the NJCAA, NCAA and NAIA.
      • Represent Hocking College with all associations as the initial point of contact for compliance related questions or challenges. The Athletic Director maintains the role as the final authority and overall responsible administrator.
      • Maintain all SA files, both hard copy and electronically.
      • Working with all coaching staffs to evaluate recruit eligibility
      • Sending out tracers/trackers to other institutions
      • Communicate with Coaches on roster changes
      • Coordinate with Institutional Research student academic records needs and to establish regular data reports. Specifically, daily reports on SA credits and academic progress. If any SA drops below fulltime, coordinate with the other academic advisors to immediately intervene.
      • Coordinate with the athletic trainer for health file and training compliance and management. Examples include, ensuring that all SA have active proof of insurance in their files, all SA have completed concussion training, all SA have medical history forms completed, etc.
      • Coordinate with the Registrar’s Office for transcript filing.
      • Coordinate with Admissions to explain the compliance process to interested students and families at admission events and the College web site.
      • Serves as Deputy Title IX coordinator as needed and as it relates to the athletic department. Responsibilities will include but not limited to education and prevention of sexual violence with student-athletes, assist the Title Coordinator with case investigation as it relates to the athletic department.
    Athletics Academic Success
    • Serve in support of the assigned academic advisor for SA in all degrees.
    • Advise SA in the transfer process to four-year institutions to ensure eligibility requirements, entrance standards and maximize years of participation.
    • Schedule regular required meetings to track attendance, credit loads, Moodle progress, and address any academic challenges.
    • Coordinate with the Academic Success Center to develop academic support services (study tables, tutoring and learning style assistance) to student athletes.
    • Coordinate study hours for SA. Review weekly reports on study progress. Intervene with SA when minimum hours are not met.
    • Coordinate with the Academic Success Center with any student-athletes with documented disabilities. Complete NJCAA requirements of Certified Disabled Student-Athlete Exceptions.
    Other duties:
    • May also serve as a Head Coach/Assistant coach in a sport if skills and opportunity allow
    • Intermittent travel required to some NJCAA and OCCAC conferences and athletic events.
    • Assist the AD to develop meaningful evaluation measures and develop coaches to become more effective.
    • Assist the AD in the supervision of the Drug testing policy.
    • Assist the AD in supervising athletic events, home and away.
    • Help manage the athletic department office.
    • Help manage athletic department student-workers.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    • Qualifications – Education, Experience, and Skills
    • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred.
    • Preferred experience in collegiate athletic compliance as staff or coach.
    • Preferred 3-5 years experience working in college athletics.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
    • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management, and problem solving skills;
    • Ability to prioritize;
    • Ability to clearly communicate expectations and deadlines;
    • Ability to act in confidence;
    • Advanced computer and technology skills, particularly with spreadsheets;
    • Understanding and desire to implement institutional goals.
