Job Summary
The Director of Drug and Alcohol Compliance will be responsible for ensuring the day-to-day management of the drug and alcohol team and client drug and alcohol programs to ensure quality, compliance with regulatory standards and the appropriate, timely flow of work. The Director of Drug & Alcohol Compliance uses clinical knowledge and judgement to ensure the staff is meeting the appropriate clinical standards.
Responsibilities
- Provides management oversight of staff for drug and alcohol services and internal drug and alcohol testing, as well as FMCSA clearinghouse.
- Manage day-to-day operations of the Drug & Alcohol staff, including but not limited to:
- Create and promote a high-performance culture of service, innovation, and results among the team.
- Engage in continuous communication to ensure accurate and relevant information exchange.
- Manage team performance and development through the various HR & talent management processes.
- Oversight for the development of clinical training for new and existing staff.
- Establish department goals and objectives and communicate these within the department.
- Monitor compliance with Company Drug & Alcohol testing programs and regulated testing programs.
- Effectively interpret and apply all Company policies, procedures and protocols including ISO.
- Communicate across departments to improve interdepartmental processes.
- Serve as primary contact in legal/labor issues when the case involves drug and alcohol matters.
- Act as a liaison for SAMHSA certified laboratories.
- Ensure accuracy, timeliness and delivery of drug and alcohol services.
- Initiate and support continuous process improvement in business workflows.
- Efficiently and effectively manage all financial resources to achieve optimal admin costs & ROI's.
- Ensure the confidentiality of all records, and prepare specialized reports as requested.
- Evaluate the overall performance of the clinics, employees and labs and make recommendations for enhancements as needed.
- Ensure that all work is performed in a timely and cost-effective manner; and acting as a liaison.
- Ensure that the randomization process done by the team is accurate and that the number of employees selected each day for testing is in accord with the testing percentage established.
- Analyze industry trends to make recommendations on product offerings or services.
- Document and troubleshoot unusual circumstances and occurrences.
- Develop and administer a quality assurance mechanism to monitor program effectiveness.
- Conduct program evaluations to prepare reports and contribute recommendations for program enhancements.
- Provide supervision, guidance, and leadership during non-business hours.
- Perform additional duties and assume additional responsibilities as identified by manager for the efficient operation of WorkCare.
Qualifications
- Education and Experience
- Minimum 6 years of experience in medical administration, occupational health services or related field, including work in medical testing where drug and alcohol testing were the primary responsibilities.
- 2 years related experience in a director level capacity.
- Experience managing a Department of Transportation Title 49 CFR Part 40 Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.

- Computer Skills
- Must be competent in the Windows operating system environment, Adobe Professional, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and learn other software as needed.
- Physical Demands
- Requires sitting for long periods of time, working at a desk.
- Some bending and stretching could be required.
- Working under stress and use of computer/phone required.
- Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard.
- Occasionally may be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel and/or crouch.
- May occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
- Work Environment
- Work Environment must be free from background noise and distraction, noise level is acceptable, temperature is controlled. At home set up must meet all Company IT, privacy and safety requirements.
Additional Job Information
The salary for this position is $115,000-$130,000 per year. Compensation offered to the final candidate within this range depends on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and qualifications.
