Job Description:
Northeastern Wayne School Corporation is seeking an administrative candidate to fill the district athletic director position leading the charge of student affairs and activities. The athletic director position provides school and community-wide leadership in helping students achieve the fullest benefits from all non-academic programs, services, and opportunities of Northeastern Wayne.
Qualifying Characteristics:
Must be able to work independently, multi-task, deal with frequent interruptions, and nurture and maintain a positive relationship with parents, students, and all other stakeholders. A high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality must be maintained when dealing with student and staff information. The ability to prioritize workload and meet specified deadlines is critical. Attention to detail and a preference for working in a time and task-intensive environment are essential. Vision for coaching, mentorship, athletic facilities, and athletic department public relations is vital in this position.
Educational and Experience Requirements:

A valid Indiana teaching license, administrator’s license preferred

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

Previous athletic director experience (specifically with Final Forms and Eventlink) from an accredited school is strongly preferred

Classroom teaching and coaching experience preferred

Responsibilities:
-
Supports the corporation's mission, vision, and core values
-
Selects, supervises, and evaluates all NWS coaches and staff
-
Administers and manages all aspects of the all athletic programs
-
Coordinates and directs adult booster club activities including all fundraising

Maintains records
-
Aligns the high school and junior high schools’ athletic programs jointly

Develops a schedule with band/cheerleaders for home events
-
Supervises extra-curricular activities
-
Oversees the athletic department budget for repair and replacement of equipment

Work with NWS maintenance and coaches to make sure all facilities are well maintained, clean, and organized including playing facilities, concession stands, and storage areas

Demonstrates sportsmanship and maintains visibility in both the school setting and community

Directs and evaluates athletic programs and growth opportunities

Assists in recruitment, selection, supervision, evaluation, and professional development of coaches and athletic staff

Ensures compliance with federal requirements and IHSAA standards

Oversees the sports field management and long term plan

Creates scheduling for all athletic programs’ practices, competitions, locations, and team rosters and distributes accordingly

Develops and maintains the athletic and coach’s handbooks with annual updates

Plans individual team award programs, year end awards celebrations, and manages athlete award history, including team and individual records for all sports

Oversees athletic budget and monthly athletic billing

Works with vendors to monitor concession inventory and develop ways to increase profit margins sales

Confirms eligibility of each athlete’s certification for participation

Builds partnerships in the community to enhance the athletic program

Performs other tasks and assumes such other duties as the superintendent may assign
