    Chief Objective of Position
    The Director of Institutional Compliance/Title IX Coordinator will lead efforts to prevent discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct on campus, while also fostering a culture of inclusivity and respect. The Director manages the university’s efforts to bring awareness to and ensure compliance of faculty, staff, and students, through its policies, procedures, and practices, with the institution’s legal obligations under Title IX, The Clery Act, and Civil Rights Act under federal and state law. This position will also partner with Athletics on the application of Title IX policies within Intercollegiate Athletics. The Director oversees and coordinates investigations, responses, and resolutions to complaints. The Director will oversee the implementation of policies, procedures, and training programs.

    Work Tasks
    • Ensure that the university’s policies and procedures align with federal and state regulations regarding discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct; is responsible for developing and implementing programs supporting the university mission.
    • Oversee the investigation process and resolution of complaints related to harassment, discrimination and Title IX violations, ensuring a fair and impartial process for all parties involved and ensuring investigations of reports and complaints of sexual misconduct are processed in accordance with federal regulations, university policy, and procedures.
    • Provides direction and oversight, assuring compliance with third party contracts related to investigations, decision making, appeals and other relevant services.
    • Receives, reviews, and takes appropriate action concerning reports of potential Title IX issues; providing resources and guidance to individuals.
    • Maintains all records concerning reports, complaints, grievance processes, supportive measures, sanctions, remedies, and training.
    • Responsible for providing training to faculty and staff involved with the Title IX process, including but not limited to deputy Title IX Coordinators and staff advisors.
    • Prepare reports and documentation for regulatory agencies, as required.
    • Monitor trends and developments in harassment, discrimination and Title IX law and policy, ensuring that institutional practices remain up-to-date and compliant with evolving standards.
    • Conduct periodic reviews and assessments to identify areas for improvement and ensure ongoing compliance. Make recommendations for improving policies and processes.
    • Chair the Campus Review Committee-Sexual Violence and serve as a member of the Employee Workplace Review team.
    • Develops and builds a comprehensive training program, including training for staff, students and families to prevent harassment and discrimination. Develops, implements, coordinates and conducts educational programs and initiatives designed to educate employees and students regarding their rights and obligations under Title IX, including reporting options/responsibilities and support services.
    • Serve as a visible and accessible resource for students, faculty, and staff seeking information or support related to Title IX and regulatory compliance.
    • Develop partnerships with student organizations, academic departments, and campus leaders to promote awareness and engagement around harassment, discrimination and Title IX issues.
    • Collaborate with campus partners, including the Center for Honor Enrichment and Community Standards (student conduct), Human Resources, Residence Life, Student Accessibility, and University Police, to address Title IX related issues promptly and effectively.
    • Maintains relationships with on- and off-campus resources that support students and employees, including the Office of Counseling Services, Student Affairs, and various community partners. Establishes official Memoranda of Understanding, as necessary.
    • Hire, supervise, train, evaluate and provide feedback to staff as necessary.
    • Develop and manage a comprehensive budget for compliance operations.
    • Coordinate Clery training and reporting responsibilities, including educational programming, legislative updates, and completion of the Annual Security & Fire Safety Report, working closely with University Police representatives to accomplish these requirements.
    • Consult with the university’s Chief Diversity Officer, designated representatives from Human Resources, and other administrative units in reference to potential issues of discrimination.
    • Serve as a point of contact/resource for outside agencies investigating complaints of discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, or the handling of related cases.
    • This position is designated as a “responsible employee” who has the authority to redress sexual violence, who has the duty to report incidents of sexual violence or other student misconduct, or who a student could reasonably believe has this authority or duty.
    • Develops and maintains a positive and professional customer service and/or relations within the office/department and with all constituencies to include students, faculty, staff, guests, and employees. Demonstrates a positive and professional attitude and treats everyone with dignity and respect. Fully supports the “Student’s First” value at CNU and routinely goes the extra mile in providing service to all constituencies.
    • Promote a safe and healthy work environment by ensuring the implementation of safety regulations and applicable standards, processes, and programs established for employees under your supervision. Ensure employees under your supervision are trained in safety standards and procedures for their positions.
    • Report work-related incidents within 24 hours according to the procedures established by the university, state and federal guidelines.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA's) related to position
    • Knowledge of federal and state laws related to Title IX, Civil Rights Act of 1964, and Title IV.
    • Skills in supervision and management, budgeting, goal setting, program development, and training. Ability to solve problems, communicate effectively (written and verbal), and manage diverse and competing tasks.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with all stakeholders.

    Required Education
    Must have a Master’s Degree or a Bachelor’s Degree with experience that equates to an advanced degree.

    Additional Consideration - Education
    Coursework above the Master’s Degree or Juris Doctorate. Certifications in Title IX compliance.

    Experience Required
    • Significantly demonstrated effective leadership and management of an office responsible for regulatory compliance related to Title IX, harassment, or discrimination-related matters.
    • Experience managing investigations and resolving complaints related to discrimination, harassment, or sexual misconduct. Experience in conducting investigations
    • Investigative report writing and developing policies and procedures.
    • Experience working with diverse populations.
    • Experience developing and delivering training programs.

    Additional Consideration - Experience
    • Proven experience in strategic planning, needs assessment, goal setting and program planning and evaluation for an office.
    • Experience in developing and delivering high quality support programs.
    • Supervisory experience
    • Experience working directly in a Title IX role.
    • Experience with software database systems, such as Maxient.
