    SUNY Oswego Department of Intercollegiate Athletics sponsors 24 intercollegiate varsity athletic programs as a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC).

    The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications to fill a full time Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications.

    Compensation: Minimum salary $55,000 - $65,000 commensurate with experience plus full New York State benefits package.

    Description of Responsibilities:

    CONTEXT OF THE JOB:

    Under general supervision of the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs/Director of Intercollegiate Athletics (AVP/DIA), the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletics Communications(AAD-AC) plays a key role in the department of Intercollegiate Athletics (IA) and the broader campus community. Situated within the Division of Student Affairs, Intercollegiate Athletics at SUNY Oswego seeks, through the administration of 24 intercollegiate varsity sports, to advance the College's overall mission by preparing student-athletes to be leaders who live ethical and meaningful lives and build a better world as successful SUNY Oswego graduates.

    The AAD-AC at SUNY Oswego is responsible for development and management of a successful NCAA Division III Athletic Communication Department. Consistent with SUNY Oswego's, the Division of Student Affairs, and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics mission and strategic priorities, the AAD-AC will provide visionary leadership for staff, coaches, and student-athletes, oversee all IA communication efforts, manage program budget, and follow department cost containment measures. The AAD-AC will collaborate with campus partners to ensure student-athlete wellbeing and success.

    DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Responsible for the overall leadership of the department of athletics communication program.
    • Work within the mission of SUNY Oswego, Division of Student Affairs, and Department of Intercollegiate Athletics to provide a competitive, unique, and memorable collegiate athletic experience for student-athletes.
    • Support SUNY Oswego, Student Affairs, and IA's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
    • Serve as contact for the department in matters of media relations.
    • Responsible for the coordination and production of radio broadcasts, web streaming, and television.
    • Coordinate daily maintenance and updating of the athletic department website.
    • Coordinate content, as well as use and design of our web/social media presence for the department.
    • Compile and distribute the results of athletic events to news media, home and away teams, and Sports Information Directors following the completion of contests.
    • Develop annual publishing timeline for media content to include but not limited to feature articles, themed releases, social media campaigns.
    • Coordinate and edit all departmental publications.
    • Coordinate photo/video of athletic events, media days, etc., for each team on an annual basis.
    • Maintain intercollegiate athletic historical records by developing recordkeeping systems and procedures.
    • In collaboration with the Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Fan Engagement, oversee departments' graphic standards policy and procedures.
    • Supervise graduate assistants, interns and student employees as assigned, including game day personnel.
    • Serve as a member of the Hall of Fame Committee. Assist in the coordination of the nomination and voting process.
    • Serve on institutional and/or department committees as appropriate in consultation with the AVP/DIA.
    • Contribute to the overall success of the intercollegiate athletics programs by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the AVP/DIA.

    Job Requirements:


    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree, at the time of application
    • 1-3 years of progressive intercollegiate athletic experience.
    • Working knowledge of NCAA Live Stats, Presto Stats, and other necessary statistical platforms.
    • Working knowledge of Sidearm Sports.
    • Working knowledge of Adobe Suite and/or other creative content development tools.
    • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
    • Experience in developing and implementing diversity, equity, inclusion, wellness-related, and student success programming.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master's degree.
    • 3-5 years of progressive intercollegiate athletic experience.
