    Job Description

    The Receiver is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory counts and quality control procedures for incoming and outgoing product shipments, reporting to the Bookstore Director.  A part time position, the schedule includes weekdays for a total of 15-20 hours per week.  This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

    Responsibilities

    • Properly account for the bookstore of incoming and outgoing products.
    • Daily monitor and handle the Bookstore email account, and all outstanding items and invoices in the Receiving Room.
    • Assuring no damaged items are sent or received.
    •  Consistent collaboration with the Director, Merchandise Manager, Senior Buyer, and Operations Manager with any invoice and vendor related issues.
    • Maintain a clean, organized and stocked receiving room - request supplies and replacements as needed.
    • Unpack shipments, sort, inspect, and reconcile contents of the incoming products and ensure accuracy of inventory using the invoice.
    • Process returns and report damages, overages, or shortages to the vendor in a timely manner, follow up with vendors as needed.
    • Record all shortages and damages in the credit book for refund collection purposes
    • Create Purchase Orders using the Shopify/Stocky computer programs.
    • Strong knowledge of bookstore policies and procedures to support bookstore operations.
    • Turn in POs and Invoices to the Operations Manager, to ensure timely payments to the vendor.
    • Process IVR’s properly and consistently and turn in all paperwork to the Operations Manager.
    • Know all store categories and tags, accurately place products in them and apply accurate price labels to products and to prepare for the sale floor.
    • Assist with annual inventory.
       

    Qualifications

    • Shopify knowledge preferred but not required
    • Experience with receiving is preferred
    • Intermediate computer skills
    • Basic Math skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Good communication, both written and oral
    • Must be organized, accurate with numbers, high attention to detail and work well in a fast paced environment
    • Strong collaborative spirit/communication skills with the Director, Operations Manager, Merchandiser, and Buyer
    • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision

    Physical Requirements

    • Physical dexterity, ability to lift up to 50 pounds with help
    • This position works in a stockroom setting
    • Involves long periods of standing.  Frequent walking, bending, and stooping.
    • May require climbing a ladder to ascend/descend in order to stock and/or acquire merchandise on storage shelves
